Sophie and Quint, what's not to love! A man who wants to be in control so much he doesn't indulge in alcohol, and a woman with a social conscience who hares off to help prostitutes in an era when they had no rights.I love the idea of a woman in Regency England being able to get away with dressing like a man to help women! What a fun twist. Allowing her to bring Quint 'back' after he almost died, by not taking no for an answer was another example of thinking outside of the box. There were so many in this book. I also love that Quint loved her as she was. Not an innocent? No matter. Dressed like a man? No matter except he provided her with a guard. He was as much removed from the Regency period as Sophie was.As in the previous books in this series, there is romance, a look at the seamy side of the Regency era, and what the main characters of the book and their friends were trying to do to help those less fortunate. The love story isn't lost by these actions, but in my opinion, enhanced. Add in Sophie's fathers dedication to England, Quint's expertise in solving ciphers and codes for the Crown, and their handler, you now have some quite tense moments that add to the story.We get to see other characters from the last two books make an appearance towards the end to help get Quint out of the house, and insure Sophie's safety. We FINALLY find out who has been murdering the prostitutes!All in all a fabulous end to the story and the series. If I could request that Ms. Shupe does a 'ten years later' story, I'd love it. I really want to see what's happened to all of these remarkably forward thinking people! ### ⭐⭐⭐ I liked this, but sex was excessive ... 2x more than needed *by B***T on Reviewed in the United States on March 1, 2018* I like a good sex scene - or 2 or even 3 - if done well and feel like a true build of the core romance and relationship. This author did a pretty good job with the relationship, but for my tastes, I would have enjoyed more relationship-growing interaction between the 2 leads. There were probably 7 - 8 or maybe even more explicit sex scenes in here. If there were less sex - I’d propose by half -there would be room in the book for more enjoyable relationship conversation / relationship depth.I haven’t read this author’s work before, and even though I really like her writing style and much of her character work, this felt like 1/3 romance, 1/3 mystery, and 1/3 porn-ish ... don’t know if I’ll be buying any more of her books (so much sex began to feel like porn, by sheer quantity:)!). Will read other peoples’s reviews to see if this mix is in all her books or not... ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good Book to end the series *by C***E on Reviewed in the United States on May 31, 2015* I have read the other books in the series and all good, I liked this one just a tad less not enough to change the star rating. Lady Sophie Barnes helped women who could not help themselves. The ones that no one else cared about.She had loved Damien Viscount Quint for years but he had broke her heart years ago. He was shoot and when SophIa heard about it she went dressed as a man to his house. Quint had been refusing to let anybody visit .she forced herself in and took care of him till he was better.he never knew she was there till much later in the story.He thinks he is slowly going mad like his father. Quint watched him go mad when he was only a small child.. He saw what it did to his mother so he would never marry.Sophie did get him to show her how to use guns she was still going out dressed as a man.women were disappearing from brothels and later found in the river.she uses the name Sir Stephen. She and two of his servants are trying to get Quint back to his old self.Sophia puts herself in danger more than once.She also does it one time to many will Quint be able to save her. Is it possible he can realize he is sane and he and SophIa have a life together. Her father has told her he had a husband picked out for her. She would have to marry him in a few months time. I hate to see the series end such good books.
