This is loud and will save your life when you need it. Buy multiple of these. They have breakaway lanyards, so it's very dafe. Highly recommended.

Lightweight and loud enough without being obnoxious

I recently started working as a soccer referee. After my mentor watched one of my games, he pointed out that my whistle was too quiet. That night, I ordered a Fox 40, and it arrived very quickly. I like the orange color because it’s easy to see. The sound—oh my gosh—I almost deafened myself on the first try. It’s much louder than I expected. I’ve been using it in my games since then, and officiating has become much easier with the proper tool.

I love this for security purposes HOWEVER it is too loud for the user without ear protection. My ears ring for quite a while after 2 blasts. I work at a venue so about 30% of the shows I’m at a post where I have hearing protection. It’s very high quality and comfortable and certainly gets attention.

Good safety whistle to keep in a backpack or when boating/kayaking. Bright colored & it doesn’t take much wind to make it sing. Very functional tool to have in the pack. Solid construction & good value for the money.

I tested this against several other whistles. It's very loud, but not much more than other whistles; pretty much all decent whistles are about the same in loudness. But the Fox 40 is compact and the mouthpiece design is perfect where you can blow the whistle without having to hold it to your mouth. Loud, compact, easy to use, makes it the perfect whistle.

Excellent whistle. I like the orange color, size, and it's extremely loud and high pitched. This is weird to say but everybody should have a really good whistle, especially the ball-less ones so they can be used in any condition. I have given a few to different female friends of mine for their personal safety when walking alone or at night. I would also recommend this for any outdoorsy/adventurous/boating people since once you take out any technology in a survival or rescue situation you are left with very primitive options and this one for the price and size is well worth tossing in your bag, pocket, or around your neck. If you're lost in the middle of the woods, I can guarantee this whistle will be heard for a couple miles, especially if it can echo within hills or mountains. If you're on a boat and can see a shore line but your engine wont start and have no other options to signal someone on shore or another boater that you need help this will also for sure get their attention. Then for a safety stand point if you're in any urban setting and blow this hard it will grab everybody's attention and if it was a potential attacker they'd maybe even just turn and run the other way just because of how loud this whistle really is. In general unless you're going to give this to a child and regret your life until they eventually lose it, everybody should have something like this for a variety of purposes that hopefully you'll never need to use it for but for the price and quality this is a must buy.

Good sound but very thin sound good to use

Laut wie die Hölle, hier fallen Euch im Nahbereich echt die Ohren ab.Ich nutze diese Pfeife als Sicherheitspfeife für die Kommunikation in der Vegetations- und Waldbrand Bekämpfung ( GFFFV Ground Forest Firefighting using Vehicles - IHCs Interagency Hotshot Crews )Tests unter Einsatzbedingungen zeigen aber nur im lichten Bereich bis maximal 200 Meter sind gut hörbar. Sollten Bäume, Sträucher oder sogar Wald dazwischen liegen, ist bei 500 Metern kein Pfeifen mehr Wahrnehmbar außer bei absoluter Stille.Auf dem Wasser könnte ich mir eine Mile vorstellen, aber niemals wenn am suchenden Boot der Motor läuft.Ich habe eine ganze Menge Pfeifen getestet, keine ist so richtig gut, diese gehört aber trotzdem zu den beiden besten.Deshalb gibt es in Verbindung mit dem hohen Preis nur 3 Sterne !
