Calling this wallpaper “ wallpaper” , well, it’s way more than that, it’s fantastic hand painted works of art. Purely aspirational, the wallpaper is so expensive it is reserved for the one percent . However, that didn’t stop me from pouring over the book and throughly enjoying the design and artwork in each unique room. The author is the owner and genius behind the company. He describes the opening of China to western capitalism and how he created a thriving business by developing the company using talented Chinese artists. Unfortunately, Mr. Gurney, the de Gournay of the company, has a rather outdated, colonial, patronizing tone while writing about the Chinese. I found it distasteful and a bit tone deaf. The book is printed in Italy And well worth the price for any reader who wants to add to their collection of interior design books. Review: Beautiful Book - Everything about this book is perfect. Beautiful Book with Plenty of Photography!
Such a beautiful coffee table book. I been following de Gournay's work for more than 5 years and I am so glad they have a book on their own to showcase their meticulous hand-painted Chinoiserie wallpapers. This is a perfect gift for anyone who has an appreciation for Chinoiserie art.

Incredibly beautiful book on the subject of handpainted walls.
I purchased this book to inspire my interest in learning to paint in the practice of chinoiserie and am Amazed at the beautiful pages within the pages. Very interesting text by the author and owner of the de Gournay company.

Excellent book
The book is excellent! I love the big format of the book, the quality and the choice of an interiors for the book. It is very relaxing and comforting just looking at the pictures but I am also very motivated to change my house interior now. A lot of good ideas from the book!

A MUST BUY!!!
Beautiful book for someone learning Chinoiserie. I purchased a lot of books recommended by the course instructor, this particular book was not on the recommended book list but I found it to be infinitely more useful and inspiring than the recommended books. Highly recommend if you are learning Chinoiserie.
