Also there was this flour in it that made the oatmeal pasty and super gross. The oats themselves were a mush paste. I tried another organic brand and the same thing. Even the thick cuts were paste laden. It turned me off to oatmeal a while. But I had the craving and my acid reflux does really well with oatmeal I went back to good old Quaker Oats. It was such a huge difference. I make my oatmeal with less liquid to keep it chewy. But I tried the box recommended amount, even though it had more water, my oatmeal was fantastic and chewy and none of that flour pasty I had with the other brands. I will never buy anything else. We've eaten Quaker oatmeal for decades - both the little instant flavored packets when we're in a hurry and the old fashioned slower cooking type when mornings aren't so rushed. We buy it because it's healthy, inexpensive and filling. These old fashioned oats cook up creamy and chewy, with lots of fiber. Add some jam, maple syrup or brown sugar, and some raisins or chopped walnuts to the top before serving, and you have a delicious and stick-with-you breakfast you won't feel guilty about. It's a great alternative to sugary cereals and it puts something warm in your stomach on cold mornings. I'm confused about some of the other reviews on this product regarding the price. When I bought this oatmeal (sold by Amazon, not a private vendor), it was $11.92 for four 42 oz. canisters. That works out to $1.13 per pound with free SuperSaver shipping.
