I returned them because you have to hone/sharpen them before using. For the price there are several other manufacturers that cost the same or less and are ready to use right out of the box. **Q: What mallet should I use on these?** A: When I want control I use a square faced wooden mallet, early on I thought that with a sharp tool and good mallet a single power blow should do the trick, over the years I found firm tapping blows produced better cuts. To power through heavy material removal I like a round carving mallet with a polyurethane face. It transfers a lot of energy and is easier on your handles. **Q: What kind of steel are these made from?** A: Thank you for the question; German Steel **Q: Why do these say made by kirschen instead of two cherries and the cherries logo is on them? looking to get my first upgraded chisel set.** A: The firm "Kirschen" (Two Cherries), the leading German manufacturer of wood carving tools, exclusively hand-forges its tools of high-carbon specialty tool steel. This elaborate and costly process produces the high quality and long life for which Two Cherries tools are noted. ## Frequently Bought Together - Kirschen 1101000 6-Piece Chisel Set in Wood Box - Sharp Pebble Honing Guide - Chisel Sharpening Jig for Chisels and Planes - Fits Chisels 0.25” to 1.96”, Fits Planer Blades 1.41” to 3.22” --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.in/products/1540907-1101000-6-piece-chisel-set-in-wood-box](https://www.desertcart.in/products/1540907-1101000-6-piece-chisel-set-in-wood-box) --- *Product available on Desertcart India* *Store origin: IN* *Last updated: 2026-10-15*
