It's made of metal, presumably aluminum and also has double sided tape attached making it slightly thick.I think if my button was more exposed instead of having its own little area on my dash I would be disappointed because it obviously does stick out above the original button.Text from what I can tell is not etched but printed on. It is very well done and matches the original font of the vehicle.
