I had seen the Marvel Firsts Boxed set with the 1st Marvel Masterworks for 10 of their most famous characters. This set is similar in nature as the actual box is very ornate with drawings of what seems like a million Marvel characters. the box/ slipcase comes with a side opening which when pulled, opens up both the side of box/ slipcase as well as the front of the box. The 11 books inside are sealed and are kept in place with a snug fit. You can read exact contents from other reviewers, but it is easy to say, it contains ALL the Secrets Wars and Secret wars 2 tie-ins. EXCEPT Rom and one other licensed property Marvel no longer has . The books themselves are not oversized and they do not have dust jackets. Instead (like the Marvel Firsts Box Set) they have meticulous artwork on the front and back covers. However, in my opinion, the Marvel Firsts covers were very Cheesy and really didn't look very good. These look great, often using actual covers from Secret Wars Issues. Dividing all that is Secrets Wars into 11 books makes for very manageable reading. It certainly is more manageable than the Secret Wars 2 Omnibus. I collect Marvel Omnibuses and I do like having all the goods in one book. However, these books leap out at you and beg to be read!! if you read the contents of the set you know there is more story and art than the 2 Secret Wars Omnibuses which I appreciated. Perhaps the most compelling point of this set is it's overall 'WOW' factor! The books look great and the beautiful huge slipcase really jumps out at you and says quality collectable!! The Marvel Civil War set is due in a month or 2 and really is the way to collect that story. Those books have been in hardcover but Marvel fans have found it difficult to find all the books and when they do, the price for key books has been through the roof. The Civil War boxed set collection is going to be the definitive set for sure. After that, the new 'Recent' Secret Wars Boxed set will be published and that set will have been only published as TPBs. As for are these sets worth the money, I say YES. The original Secret Wars and Secret Wars 2 Omnibuses cost about $200.00 to $230.00 for both now...sometimes more. I bought my Secret Wars slipcased boxed set on desertcart for $208.17. 4 days later it was $275.00 on desertcart and I have no clue how they figure out what to charge but I bought my set for 60% off the $500.00 retail. I truly feel for the whole package it was well worth it. Quite honestly, this is a fun set to own and enjoy. As another reviewer has said, this set comprises the Secret Wars collection from the 1980's and 90's. It does NOT contain ANY of the recent Secret Wars Battlefield books from 2015 or 2016. Because for the next year you are going to be pouring over the 3,500 pages of this box set. This epic story came out the year after I graduated from high school and was busy moving, starting a new job, and eventually joining the army. I had no inkling of Secret Wars until I finally bought a few books after I'd been in the army for a couple of years and Secret Wars II was well under way. I resolved that one day I would read The Secret Wars saga in its fullness. That day has finally arrived. Of course I haven't read all 3500 pages as yet but I have unpacked the contents and have started on the first volume. It is a magnificent thing. I cannot describe the joy I felt as I filmed myself going through the contents of the exceptional heavy box. But you can find it on YouTube if you search. I've only read the first 28 pages thus far and they were wonderful. As soon as I publish this, I will continue with the first full story of volume 1.
