This product is a total game changer. I have well water with a high copper content, and every time I top off my pool, I used to worry about staining. I was using a much more expensive product from the pool company—until I found this. Pool Mate Metal Out works just as well for a fraction of the cost. It keeps my water clear and stain-free, and I’ve had zero issues with copper discoloration since switching. It’s easy to use, and a little goes a long way. If you’re looking to save money without sacrificing quality, this is absolutely the way to go. Highly recommend!

Due to high levels of Iron/Manganese/Sulfur in my well water, this year I decided to try this Premium metal out. Once the pool was filled with water I added the recommended amount, ran the filter, backwashed and repeated with same dosage and about 6 hours filter time. Then I tested levels again for hardness and PH. I added calcium per my own readings. This year when I added the shock I didn't get an entire pool of chocolate milk colored water - it was a pale brownish/green hue for which I added the rest of the bottle of Premium Metal remover and ran filter overnight, backwashed in the morning and checked levels and all was crystal clear. I could now place a chlorine floater in the pool and begin my weekly doses of E-Z Pools and call it all good for the season. This Premium metal out was far better that the regular one. It worked so much faster. If you have well water, I fully recommend this product!!

Edit - It took about 24 hours before I saw noticeable results. I used 2 bottles and still didn’t completely remove so I used vitamin C from there. Did the trick. All is good now! I was hopeful after reading other reviews that this product would work. I have a 24’ round pool with heavy iron stains. I followed the instructions regarding ph and chlorine levels, and ended up using about a quart and a half of the product based on my pool size. The first photo is after putting the solution in and second two are 12 hours later. No change at all. Maybe the product is best for copper stains only but I searched all over the label and it says nothing in specific for the type of metal it treats. I discovered a Vitamin C tablet was able to remove the stain so I ordered a 2.5lb of vitamin c for $15 instead. Would not recommend this product.

I have iron from well water. This product showed improvement but it’s not all gone. (The green is a reflection of trees) One bottle should treat 10,000 gallons. My pool is an above ground 3,400 gallon. I first added the appropriate amount for my size pool but saw no difference after 24 hours with the pump running nonstop. I then added the rest of the bottle, pump running continuously for the next 32 hours. The pic is the result. A definite improvement (wish I had a before pic) but not crystal clear. I’m at a loss. BTW chlorine was at 0.

This product is absolutely amazing! Day, one of our pool being filled I shocked it and five minutes after it turned completely brown. We have a lot of iron in our well water, which I wasn’t aware of. Once I put this bottle in no joke within a day it cleared my pool. Below our pictures of day one, day three in the morning, and day three in the evening. So impressed and I will keep stocked on this at all times!

I really do not know if it’s the product or my pool. I have put a total of 64 oz of it in my pool for the last week and it hasn’t done a single thing to the copper level. I have it three stars because i’m not sure if it’s the product or an issue on my part.

This product is exactly what we needed. Our hottub had not been balanced yet because I knew our well water would turn rust brown the moment I chlorinated. So, starting with a low pH and no chlorine, I tried the metal out. The suggested dosage is insanely low. For our 210 gallon inflatable hot tub we needed a little over an ounce according to the math. After 2 hrs, nothing had changed. So, I gave it a heavy pour and decided to see what would happen. Immediately, the rusty color was fading. I gave it one more heavy dose (used about 22 oz in total) and let it bubble for 4 hrs then added the pH increaser. I hesitantly added a tbsp of chlorine shock and expected a huge color change back to rust. It did yellow, but only slightly. I changed the filters halfway through and woke to a clear hot tub the next day. Note: I did not have to vaccuum the bottom or do any crazy diy filtering to gather rust particles. The filters captured the majority of the rust and the water cleared almost instanlty without sediment.

Used this in my hot tub on a fresh fill up to help keep the metals out of it as I am on a well and have not had any issues. I keep adding a little each week just to keep on top of it and so far so good.
