I ordered one of these to work on a DWC hydroponics setup I have. I noticed the pump was loud whenever there wasn't an outlet being used with a hose. The noise got suppressed by a lot once you do that though. You can change the intensity of the air that is pumped. I was able to change the amount of bubbles that were passing through for my hydroponics buckets. If your going to get into hydroponics than I recommend this for a nice starter air pump.

This is great. I’ve had it for a little over a month on everyday use and the plants are happy. It’s not to loud. It’s not silent either but nothing unreasonable. I will give an updated review in a few months to state how it holds up unless I have a Problem before then. However at this point I wish I would’ve got the bigger one with 4 air tube slots instead of 2. Definitely recommend getting for hydroponics or aerating teas….. several months later, still going strong! Just a recommendation to hold it at a higher level than whatever level your bucket or tank is because when the power goes out, the water can work it’s way down the tube and into the pump, I caught it in time so my pump is still working great. Just keep that in mind, great product! I ended up also getting the 4 piece hookup because I liked this one so much

This pump is great, its just enough to run two DWC buckets and that's perfect for me. I do think it could be a bit stronger and am doubtful it's as powerful as advertised but nevertheless it's a good pump. I'm running 4inch airstones in five gallon buckets and the pump is on 24/7 sense arrival. Hasnt lost any noticeable function and is quiet but to be honest the fans I run would probably drown it out anyways. Heat hasn't been a problem, the pump is usually warm to the touch which is great on cold mornings but has never affected the tent or water temps. At least not enough to be noticable or a concern. Overall, like the title states, it's a great little work horse. I do wish it came with some tubing and a check valve but that not expensive to get so it's not a deal breaker. I recommend this pump.

This pump works good for my 5 gallon DWC setup. I'm using it for air in 6 buckets altogether, 3 per side. This is my first year doing the hydroponics and its most likely under powered for 6 buckets but its working OK so far. I was torn between using an aerator or trying the kratky method. I decided to go the aeration route so even if it is slightly under powered for 6 buckets I figure some air is better than none at all. Next year I plan on adding several more buckets which will require a more powerful pump but will probably still run this one to at least 4 buckets. This pump is also pretty quiet, I've seen the reviews from people complaining of it being loud and maybe they just got a defective unit. My pump has been running 24/7 for the last 2 months and I don't even notice its there.

This is a powerful unit. The specs say 7.8 l/min. While I didn't do any testing, subjectively I can tell you it puts out a lot of air. The specs also say quiet. Well, maybe that is relative to the volume of air. Mine sounded like a lawn mower. (Maybe a little exaggerated.) Perhaps I received a defective model. If your situation can tolerate the sound level, this appears to be a great device at a very reasonable price point. Unfortunately, I had to return my unit. My aquariums are in the sitting room of my bedroom. The sound level was just too much. As the song says: ¨I can't go for dat. No can do!¨

I purchased these for my 2 10-gallon fish tanks. I researched many different air pump motors, as I had tried several different "pet-store" models. Over time, they all burned out and could not even maintain the little bubbler stones. I decided on this as I had recently purchased 2 new bubble statues for one of my tanks, and one for the other. (I am using a t-connecter for the tank that only needs 1 port.) I am very pleased with this motor! It is relatively quiet, no louder than any other air pump I have used before. The adjustable dial that lets you control power is a great bonus - I was able to find the perfect level of air to power both of my bubblers. If anything, this little guy may have too much power for my size tank - but it is not problematic at all. It's probably ideal for 20 gallons and up, but for the price, additional port and dial feature, I could not be happier! My tanks both have a new level of life now and I am so pleased. If you are in need of a new air pump - this is definitely a worthy buy.

So I just got the product in today. It's sexy and bigger than I had imagined! Which, I think psychologically makes it seem more powerful, though it really is compared to other 3 watt air pumps. Love the adjusting knob. Seems like it is a high quality air pump. I have only used it 1 day, so I don't know how long it will last. At max power, it does seem a bit loud, but I don't mind it at all because it's not near my bedroom or tv. The only bad thing I would say is that Amazon always takes forever to ship anything and everything! but it did arrive fast once they shipped it. Over all, love it! Except maybe the metal tubing; it should have been plastic to keep air lines and air safe from rust and whatnot that degrades overtime, in my opinion. But I don't know if that part of the air pump is stainless steel or not, so for now I'll be assuming it is. Anyway, you can't beat the price for the power. I will order more if needed in the near future.

The fish in my in my outdoor pond were looking sluggish. I tested the ph,acid and chlorine levels and everything checked out ok. I figured maybe my water feature was not moving the water fast enough to keep it aerated so I decided to add this pump. My pond is 10x8 and about 2 to 3 feet deep. I was surprised that this little pump was able to move so much air. Minutes after adding it to my pond the fish came alive and started swimming around. The pump puts out a lot of air, even in 3 feet of water the bubbles make it all the way to the top. The pump does not come with any tubing or instructions (at least in my box) and it does not have an on and off switch. There is just a knob to control how much air you want it to pump. It uses 1/4" diameter air tubing. I used Jardin Aquarium Fish Tank Ponds Ceramic Air Stone Diffusers, 40mm Diameter with this pump. Compared to your typical aquarium pump, this pump is quiet. It has been running constantly since I bought it and I have not experienced any issues. The pump is not waterproof so if you plan to use it outdoors is has to be protected from the elements. Also make sure there is adequate air flow around the unit or else the motor may burn out. Update 4/21/2013: The pump has been running non stop for a year now without any issues. Update 02/25/2014: 2 years of non stop use and the pump is still going.

I have no idea if this pump is any good as I can't use it as it has an American plug which was not mentioned

Although this pumps air wonderfully, it's loud. Very loud. Direct from unpacking, it's running at 62dB. This is louder than normal conversation and is almost as loud as street noise. With doors closed, I can still hear it pumping away in other rooms. Should it be this loud? Unfortunately, it's expensive, it's not broken and I have to keep on using it until it dies.

It is so damn loud we can't use it even during the day! Also has a weird plug which wasn't mentioned, had to figure what the plug was then wait another several days for an extension plug to be delivered!

Good strong pump for almost three air stones. Fairly quiet. Overall good product. UPDATE... after about a year, this pump is so loud I can't have it running on any of my tanks. The Tetra whipser air pumps are much quieter. Waste of money.
