This is extremely handy and useful for him to have as it Carrie’s enough for a full refill possibly even two if tour not already bone dry in which case if you are you can still get one full fill out of it and probably 1/2-3/4 of another!!! It also has a place to carry a extra flint as well as a little tool to help unscrew the flint!!! Really a great purchase, if you’re reading this review though I have to also suggest you check out the zippo gaskets/seals as well, one of my other favorite desertcart purchases! They come in a pack of 5-7 for about $7 and are a huge money saver for anyone who carries a zippo! Before we purchased them we were refilling our zippo about every other day after adding that to the bottom of them we now refill every other week, no more evaporating fluid!!! It also has a little spot to carry a extra flint so you have a extra one on your lighter at all times! These two items are really amazing purchases for any zippo enthusiast!!!!!!
Review: Very good to have, but you need to replace the small ring attached to the tank. - If you're going to carry any lighter that takes liquid lighter fluid and that's the only lighter you're going to carry, you really should probably have one of these unless you intend on carrying an entire bottle of fluid in a bag or something. This would also be pretty handy in multiple scenarios including survival situations. Just having this with you would make it infinitely easier to start a fire quickly. As I stated in the title you definitely need to replace the small ring that is directly attached to the canister. It will fail. I don't mean "might" no, it will fail! Other than that small issue, it's a solid unit that will allow you to carry more fuel and a spare flint. I'd ding it for the small ring, but I have several of these and that's always been an issue so I know what I was buying going in. Mine has not leaked as others have stated and the flow rate is plenty high to fill a Zippo or other "petrol" lighter.

**Q: Is the capacity listed anywhere? The hand warmers tend to use more fuel than lighters, will this hold enough?**
A: it says the capacity is 6 hours for hand warmer, I have measured the plastic funnel canister and its 12 hour capacity is 20ml, that means the volume of this canister is about 10ml, plenty for a lighter, but only 6 hours for the hand warmer, dont get me wrong though its still much better than those charging pieces of garbage.

**Q: How long will this hold fluid before it dissipates, or does it keep the fluids until you need it?**
A: It should hold the lighter fluid until you need it; virtually indefinitely. If you are finding that the fluid level has been going down when you are not using it, make sure the o-rings are not damaged and ALL the caps are closed tightly but not too tight. Tightening them too much with something other than your hands could damage the o-rings. Also, do not store it in hot places as the fluid can evaporate and create internal pressure which might lead to loss of fluid, I'm guessing. I keep my canister filled to the brim. I just returned from a 2 month trip and wanted to check if the canister had leaked at all. I did not take my zippo or the canister with me on the trip and it was still full to the brim while the zippo was nearly bone dry. A side note, the canister holds the perfect amount for a full refill of an empty or a nearly empty zippo. Hope this was helpful.

**Q: How to use**
A: Re MrUSA's "stick an extra flint in that hole where you refill." Little known fact: That's exactly what that hole is for. You should always lift the felt to refill your Zippo.

Sometimes the gasket between the bottom reservoir & tip leaks. An easy solution is to use a garden hose gasket. They fit perfectly, create a solid seal and are widely available in your local big-box hardware store (The ones with either Blue or Red themes - you know which one's I'm referring to!). No more needing to refill only to find the fluid evaporated.

A: The Zippo Fuel Canister will hold approximately 9 ml of lighter fluid.  This is enough fuel to fill one Zippo windproof lighter or a 6-hour fill on a Zippo Hand Warmer.
