The graphics are good even if you hold the handheld close to your eyes and very smooth if you hold it about 2 feet (recommended) from your eyes. The sounds are great, commentary is there for what it is to add some realism to the setup. There is no gameplay lag, menus are nicely built.Online gameplay can be a bit laggy depending on the connection, but it is overall satisfying when it works well. A must buy for PS Vita lovers. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars Early Impressions - Recommended for Newcomers, Past MLB Show Fans its debateable to upgrade *by P***H on Reviewed in the United States on March 6, 2013* After playing for about 2-3 hours, here are my impressions thus far comparing MLB '13 and MLB '12 vita versions:I played a game in Playoff, Season, and Franchise mode. I'll try to provide as much detail as possible.If you are new to the Show or had difficulties with understanding the mechanics of previous games, I would recommend getting this one as it is more beginner friendly with a beginner mode which helps you understand the basics.Graphics-wise, MLB '13 is probably slightly better than MLB '12, but not by much. There is not a considerable difference. However, faces seemed a bit more detailed and stadium had a little bit more detail when comparing both versions. With that said, the game looks smoother than MLB '12 (i.e. less jaggies).MLB '13 has included short cutscenes (animations) for home runs, strikeouts, fielded plays, and so forth. So if you were dissappointed in MLB 12 lacking in cutscenes, you'll be happy with this version.In Mlb '13 they added more camera views, so you have more options to choose from when pitching, hitting, and fielding.They also included a pressure-sensitive option for throwing on a fielded play. When you field a ball, a guage shows up which will show how much strength you will add to your throw depending on how long you hold the button. Then when you release, you have to press again to throw the ball. So throwing errors will be based on your gauge meter, and not arbitrarly like in MLB '12.The one thing I am dissapointed in this game, which I thought was going to be improved in MLB '13 (vita), is the commentary. The commentary seemed to have digressed in this installment. For example, at the end of half inning, there is no recap made by the commentors - there is dead silence after the third out. There is still play-by-play commentary, but less "side commentary" or filler between pitches - I like to hear the side commentary in between pitches and/or plays as it adds more to the realism of experiencing a broadcasted game (particularly, the recap after 3 outs). I think Mlb '12 did this better in that regard.Season mode seemed essentially the same as last years. In Franchise mode they added some more options for budget and also option for scouting players.One of the few reasons I decided to get this game was for playoff mode. In Playoff mode, you have the option to choose from the standard 1 wildcard team per League or the new 2 wildcard team playoff structure. You can choose several teams you want to play and also teams that you want to include as CPU players in the other spots in the bracket.When playing playoff mode, you can see the Playoff logos and also they try to mimic the playoff atmosphere in the audience with chants when you are batting and pitching. Overall, I think it is a nice addition. However, one thing I did notice was that I wasn't able to save a game in progress like Season or Franchise mode - maybe it didn't come up, but I didn't see the option to save. I was only able to save a playoff game after it was done.At the end, I have mixed feelings about it. I was debating if to give it 3 or 4 stars. They added extra a few features made but digressed in commentary and there was only a slight improvement in graphics.For people playing the MLB the show on the vita for the first time, this is the version to get. For those that have MLB '12, its a bit of a harder decision if the extras are enough to warrant an upgrade, maybe more justifiable as the price drops.UPDATE 3/7/2013:I put in more hours into this game and it is growing on me more. I still maintain my 4 star rating.One thing I do like is the fact when you hit a home run, the ball ricochets off the bleachers or billboard.
