The bearings are pressed in, so a tool like this is crucial to removing AND reinstalling the bearing without damaging the bearing or other parts of the car. Necessary tools include a breaker bar, socket wrench, combination wrench, and lubricant/threadlock for the bolt. You don't NEED an impact wrench, but it made removal of the old bearing much easier (see below). If you need a slide hammer for removing the hub, check with an autoparts store for a loaner tool. And PLEASE, use safety googles/glasses whenever doing work like this. I've never heard a person say "Yeah, I lost my right eye working on that, but it was worth it!"A few thoughts/suggestions from my experience:1- There are no instructions with this kit, but you can use the ATD version: http://atdtools.com/8625. It's very helpful to show how the pieces need to be arranged to work properly. The only difference is the ATD parts are marked with numbers, with this kit you will have to measure and/or check the fitment. YouTube also has some very good videos showing the use of this type of kit.2- Both the screw/bolt and the advancing nut are 32mm.3- Verify the correct adapter(s) for each use, check 2 or 3 times to make sure everything fits and is on straight before tightening. If you don't use the right size, you risk binding the screw or damaging the bearing/vehicle.4- LUBE THE SCREW/BOLT!!!- Can't emphasize this enough. The tremendous amount of force being applied can cause the screw to bind and potentially warp/break, and then you will have a mess. I also lubed any metal to metal contact point (washers, adapters, etc). Before you start, lube the screw and then thread the nut all the way to the head. This will spread the lubricant and ensure the screw threads correctly and easily.5- You can use an impact wrench, but be cautious. The force and speed of an impact wrench can result in binding or off-center installation. I found it to be more helpful when removing the old bearing, as the hammer-like torque it provides helped jar the bearing loose. When reinstalling the new bearing and the hub, I didn't want them to go in crooked, so I used a combination wrench and a socket/breaker bar and took it slow, both went on without any trouble.Overall, I found this kit to be a great buy. If you want to avoid a trip to the mechanic or just like to do the work yourself, this is the one of the best ways to go. It's a quality set of tools at a VERY reasonable price. There are a number of similar but higher priced kits here on Amazon as well as other tools stores. HF also sells a kit just like this one, for about double the price. Even with a 20% coupon, it's still more than this set. I was a little reluctant to buy this due to the low price and only 1 review, but it was worth it and I'm glad I did! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars great set of spacers etc. get the hub grappler if you want to avoid removing the knuckle from the strut. *by J***M on Reviewed in the United States on September 27, 2016* this is a very nice array of spacers and associated parts for removing front wheel drive, press-in bearings. i used it in conjunction with the otc hub grapplerΒ  OTC 6575-1 Hub Grappler Puller Β . yeah, that's almost $200 all told, but you'll have what you need for just about any FWD bearing change. in my opinion, you'll need another tool besides this set to remove the hub - getting the bearing out and new one back in can be done with just this kit, but if you want to remove the hub without removing the knuckle from the strut (to minimize the need for alignment), you'll need something like the grappler puller. a hydraulic press will work well if you remove the knuckle.to remove the inner race from the hub, i used a dewalt hand held grinder equipped with a cutting disc similar to this: https://www.amazon.com/DEWALT-DWE4012-Paddle-Switch-Grinder/dp/B00L42M4VQ/ref=sr_1_10?s=power-hand-tools&ie=UTF8&qid=1475016247&sr=1-10&keywords=grinder+tool (the link paste tool on the review page didn't work correctly for this :-\if you use the grinder be careful not to cut into the hub.i didn't use the screw or nut in this kit as the ones in the grappler kit worked well for me, but if you use them, be sure to lubricate them with a good grease. i used a molybdenum disulfide based heavy vehicle wheel and chasis grease. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars Good tool for home garage *by A***D on Reviewed in the United States on October 3, 2016* I would consider myself an advanced DYI. I worked about 10 years as a mechanic and do all my own repairs and can fix almost anything on a vehicle. This kit is what it is. a cheap made in China kit but it is perfect for the occasional use in a home garage. I wouldn't buy it if I was still working in a shop and had to use it all the time but for the what little I will use it the price is right. I borrowed a professional grade kit to do the other side last year and this kit worked as good or better as the expensive tool. Grease the bolt and washers up before use and it works great. The only complaint I have is the latches on the case came broke. They still hold it shut but fall off when you open them. But what do you expect for a trip all the way across the world. Also it does not come with instructions so if you are a not experienced using a tool like this it might a issue for you but you should be able to find a YouTube video to get you headed in the right direction.
