### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A good RPG with some innovative elements
*by N***O on February 7, 2011*

I am really enjoying this game so far, being about 21 hours in. The world is very large, and there are many quests to take on. The story, while nothing amazing, is good enough. One of the best aspects of the game is the magic system. You use different magic cards (effect cards, carrier cards, and modifier cards) to create your own spells. This system, while it could be a little better explained, is really fun. It is a blast to create your own crazy spells, and the system really encourages and rewards experimentation.Likewise, the crafting system is good as well. You can break down almost any item into its components (iron, steel, wood, etc.) and use these components to enhance the weapons you want to use. You can also enhance the weapons with crystals that give different bonuses. The interface has some very nice features. The best aspect of it is the quick weapon and armor set switching. You press left, up, and right on the d-pad to select different weapon and armor setups. For example, you see some enemies in the distance, so you switch to your mage setup and summon a couple of skeletons, then you throw a couple if fireballs at the enemies. Since you are out of mana, you the switch to your ranger setup and shoot a couple of arrows at the enemies while they approach. When they get close, you switch to your warrior setup and engage in melee combat. This system is very useful and leads to some very interesting tactical opportunities. There is also a pretty extensive multiplayer component to the game, but I have been so captivated by the single player that I haven't really played it much. The game is not perfect. The graphics are fine, but they aren't going to blow your mind or anything. The voice acting is hit and miss; sometimes it is fine, but every now and then you get a character who is terrible sounding. The horse could be better integrated into the game, and the maps, while serviceable, could be better implemented.None of the games flaws make it unplayable, however and are minor annoyances at worst. Overall, this is a very good RPG. Any fan of the genre should buy it.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Best RPG in the last 2 years
*by D***W on February 14, 2011*

This is a great RPG and is totally worth the price. I played this over the weekend and the depth and complexity of the skills combined with a good combat system make it a fun game. For those of you still on the fence about whether or not to buy this game, here's how I would describe it in comparison to other games. The game is like Oblivion, Dragon age, and Fable combined. The 3rd person view and player mechanics remind me alot of dragon age and fable. The game uses main attribute points which relate to health, strength, marksmanship, and magic. (Fable anyone?) In addition to the main attributes, there are skill points which can be added any of the many styles of play available. For instance, there are different skills in melee, archery, assasination, magic, etc. In this way, I feel like the game is alot like dragon age.Combat feels like Oblivion meets Fable. The archery mechanics are the best I've ever seen, with an easy to access sniper view with multiarrows and such. Melee has a block, counter attack, attack, and defense breaker (flourish). The game really shines in the magic and crafting areas of what people have come to expect from RPG's. All weapons can be broken down to their core elements, with those elements being able to combine with existing items to create more powerful items. Although I have yet to find any, magic stones can be fused together for a synergistic type relationship (2+2=5) and placed in weapons to make the weapons more powerful.Quests for this game are actually fun! I haven't found any quests which just say go kill 10 of these or whatever. The NPC's actually give you what seems like worthwhile objectives to finish. All in all, if you liked fable, dragon age, or oblivion, buy this game. It takes the best of fable and dragon age and combines it with a huge open world feel of oblivion. If you can get through the 2 hour tutorial (not really a tutorial but you really do need 2 hours to learn all the parts of the game) then you will really enjoy this.

### ⭐ Wish it was more playable...

Ambitious game, but poor execution. It tries to do a lot of things unfortunately none of them well.
