Plastic shell provides the security that I need (as opposed to the "cloth like" ones that wick moisture around the edges) and the plastic is pretty soft so they are extremely quiet. Standing leak guards (approx 1/2") from front to back prevent any leaks and extremely soft lining is comfortable against the skin. They pull moisture away from the skin and into the core quickly preventing leakage from "surges" and skin breakdown.
