This game excels in making the enemies huge and detailed, the battles intense and satisfying, and the scenery lush and vibrant, whether in a frozen gothic castle or a demon-infested jungle. They really pulled off the difficult task of creating a sequel with enough new things to make it interesting and unique, while at the same time holding true to the roots of the series. Dante is present in this game, but for all intents and purposes this game revolves around Nero, a newcomer to the series. Although his revolver and sword don't have the same variety and flexibility as Dante's, he is still a solid character and I would love to see him in more games in the future. This game has a few bad points, but they are so small it doesn't even make an impact on my rating. I found the game to be a little too short, and I wish there were more missions. Also about halfway through the game, you end up retracing your steps and visiting the same locations over again. It's graphic are great, the game play is action packed with a great fighting system that was used previously in DMC3. The only bad thing about it is the lack of Dante, this story is more focused on fleshing out the story of the new protagonist Nero. It would've been nice if they allowed for an option to play through as Dante alone and Nero alone as they did in DMC2/3 where you could play as Dante or the supporting cast member. The bosses are memorable, the character of Dante is genuine, and the story is a bit all over the place. But as an action game its definitely worth playing. Perhaps the next time Capcom makes another game in the series ( not counting the reboot), we can see a continuation of Dante and Nero in their demon hunting business and perhaps finish up the story line from after DMC 2.
