1976 vinyl
1976 called and they want their fat aunt wearing the nylon polyester back. These things are super tight in the thighs, and every step is sound off by that classic zzzt zzzzt sound. If you order these by sizing comparatively to the sizing of regular Levi’s you’re in for a huge surprise. Better suck it in fat guy. I’m 6’4” and typically wear a 40 in the waist with a little wiggle room. Not with these vinyl classics. Good luck and maybe learn from my mistakes.

Fantastic ergonomics, great quality and excellent price
Over the years I've worn many tactical pants: numerous models of 5.11, Blackhawk, Kuhl, SPLAV, Chinese improvisations and expensive custom-made ones. Vertx pants (I own several models) are ones of the very best when it comes to overall value…Pros:- High quality sewing, good fabrics. These are really well made compared to, say, popular 5.11 pants.- Great look. These pants neither look tactical nor a pair of cheap cargo pants. The extra pockets are nearly invisible.- Ergonomics. The pants fit really great. You can move freely without looking like hobo.- Details. There're many. Starting with inverted pocket zippers (soon you'll feel it as the only natural direction), going to pocket organizers and finishing with a great belt.- Value you get for the money. It's a steal.Cons:Nothing I can really think of unless you're looking for an uber-tactical moll-ninja look.Overall:One of the very best pants in this class money can buy.

★★★★★Vertx Phantom Ops-Creative Designers★★★★★
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. This is a well designed product. I'm the guy taking his last grasp at the vestiges of youth. Functionality is important to me. Equally important are clothing aesthetics (style). The Vertx pants are quite stylish and are probably more at home at a bar in Pattaya, than slogging a trail in the Darien. The material..YES!...finally someone made a ripstop blend that doesn't embed the stench of bacteria grown on plastic. The textile is robust. I estimate it's weight at around 6.5 to 7 Oz./Yard.Note: I do not recommend clothes dryers for any sort of polyester cotton hybrid cloth. Clothes wear out from the mechanical beating in a dryer. The utility pockets are sewn at the edge and seams to give the pants a tailored look. The downside is, getting a wallet in and out may prove difficult. The upside is...not many wallet grabbers will be able to ruin your holiday. The front pocket pool pockets are not designed for real guys in real world situations. These groin pockets will dump your loose change under the front seat and into the parking lot when you are getting in and out of your Peterbilt.Vertx DID however, design a zipped pocket with easy access, inside the main front pocket. I've been designing my own line of silk based tactical gear (Thank You Sean Combs) for several years and pocket zippers are mandatory.Zippers really only impede novice pickpockets , but you'll have enough change to call the bail bond guy for those nasty "But he stole my wallet.." situations.Stitching..A few reviewers have mentioned poor stitching in the crotch and zipper areas. Overall, the stitching is VERY GOOD. I did not see any problem in the zipper stitching. I did see a little shoddy work on the fly and main button hole. Whenever there are repetitive stitching flaws in a product, it has to do with the design not taking into account the manufacture's machine capabilities.I could write about clothes all day long, but that's like being a food critic.. worthless.I like these pants because the designer is someone who understands the geometry of the human form and the aesthetics of clothing. My design Redux would be: 1) Eliminate the fly zipper and replace with reinforced metal buttons. 2) Splice in a 50/50 Cotton Poly Meshing at three locations, to increase the breathability of the trouser. 3) Make the pen pocket larger (for knife carry) and add a flap with a snap. 4) Possibly redesign the crotch area seams to make better use of the manufacturers machines. 4) Create a lighter weight bamboo tencel/hemp/cotton/polyester textile version of the "Phantom Ops".I am 100% satisfied with this purchase. The customs duty and shipping put the cost of this item at over $120 dollars for me. There aren't many clothes for 6'4, 230 lb. guys in Thailand and I appreciate that the vendor and Amazon take the time to go through the hassle of international shipping.I love Amazon. Period. Problem seam issues and rework are not an issue for me. I have several pattern makers and sewing crew to correct any problems.Vertx should keep in mind that Average Joe wants nothing to do with repairing clothing. Cult following and branding can make or break company longevity. In the past, I purchased many clothing items from another company that employs a Pterodactyl in their logo. I do not purchase from them any longer, because their materials are technically inferior from a survival aspect. Being stuck in the jungle and your pants constantly feel sticky is a place I've been far too many times. No. We don't do that here any longer. The Vertx "Phantom Ops" is a well designed, functional product that stands out from the countless "Armchair Tactical Clothiers" blocking our view. As for me.. I am heading south...to a villa with a swimming pool...and beautiful young woman and a litre of Añejo. Her attempts to examine my wallet will be thwarted by the attire of the last vestiges of my youth.Phantom Ops...Buy the ticket.. Take the Ride.

Good for what I do...
Would reccomend for sure. I'm a field tech. I'm very tall and really tough on gear. On average I spend no fewer than 10 hours a day outdoors and I'm constantly moving - Kneeling, lifting, bending, squatting, not to mention tons of perspiration. The stress I put on what I wear is just ridiculous. I've tried Blackhawk, 5.11, and LAPG. And while there's quite a bit to be said for what those brands offer, Vertx seems to be the better quality. They simply don't fail. The design spec and high grade material, they're simplicity and the solid construction, IMO, are unequaled. Yeah, you pay a little more but it won't take you long to figure out why. They're all I wear now. I've posted an image to suggest look and fit.

Best tactical pant I've found yet
These fit so much better that 5.11's and the quality of construction is the best I have seen on any pair of pants, casual, tactical or otherwise. Could not be happier. I bought them for travel pants as an alternative to Scott e Vest pants which are good but the extra long pockets just aren't useful compared with the cargo pockets on these. each cargo-pocket has an internal pocket that is just the right size and placement for carrying a cell-phone. The Cargo pockets are gusseted to expand if you really need to load them up. Both slash pickets include hidden zippered supplementary pockets, so well constructed that they are virtually invisible. Belt loop placement exactly right for 4 o'clock. I found sizing to be spot on. no need (for me) to add an inch as some suggested. Description shows them "lightweight", I would differ. They are medium weight and up to about any work environment or outdoor activity. I honestly could find nothing that I would change or improve upon. Great product!

Great pants but one major flaw
I'll start with the flaw: the butt pocket flaps are practically sewn shut so you can't even put anything into your butt pockets except maybe a drawstring coin bag. First time Vertx has disappointed me, especially given this is the most premium pant I've tried.VERY disappointed given how everything else about the pants were fine: good cargo pockets and a hip slot for your knife and tools to keep them from scratching that phone in your hand pockets.

Comfortable, durable.
I have been wearing the Vertx original, or Legacy trousers as they are now known in excess of five years. I like the fit, the comfort and the features. These trousers are similar. They have the same levels of comfort and more features while keeping the ones I liked. The dedicated knife pockets and the flaps over the rear pockets are excellent. What makes these trousers stand out is the fabric. The rip-stop weave is light, resistant to stains and it is incredibly durable. I expect them to last longer than the originals and I will certainly be buying more of them.I now have a second pair of these pants and I am glad to report that everything I said previously has indeed happened. What I find most satisfying is the weight of these new ones compared to the old. They are considerably lighter and therefore easier to wear all day. Excellent.I have finally had to replace the original two pairs mentioned above. They have been worn hard and have stood up remarkably well. My one and only gripe continues to be the belt loops. There are too few of them and I would like them to be wider, similar to those made by 5:11. In every other way the Vertx are superior.

So Darn Comfortable!!!
I have a hard time finding a comfortable pair of tactical pants. I have a couple pairs of another brand that are good and durable. But ... these Vertx pants .... yeah .... for me ... hands down the way to go. True to size and fit me perfect. These are the way ahead for me. I am definitely going to get more pairs once the colours I want are in stock

Good, but no pocket snaps/ buttons.
Good, but needs snap, or velcro closures on the leg & back pockets for security & loss prevention.
