Like all of John Lennon‘s albums, Imagine is a masterpiece and I think that everyone should have it in their collection

I've been trying to recreate the record collection I had as a teenager. Of course, I had to include this classic Lennon album. I was pleased to find the inner sleeve, poster, and postcard were all included just as I remembered them. Album sounds great and plays well.

Vinyl plays perfect 0 skips, there was a reason why this is one of John Lennon’s favorite project he’s ever made, it’s just a PERFECT combination of soft and rough music with hint of sarcasm and typical Lennon aggression (how do you sleep) the Paul McCartney diss lol

Bored with the track "Imagine" and i am sure that John was too,no big deal, only a simple song to sing and record,and he is right. SO then, the other songs, 'Crippled Inside' Jive of a song,real sing-a-long,great words for someone that's hurting. 'Jealous Guy' Yoko,this time,well it surely isn't Cynthia.'It's so hard' So-So,nice rocker. 'I don't wanna be a soldier' Best song on the album and the longest,expression on this track means everything. 'Gimme some truth' John having a go at the media..AGAIN! 'Oh my love' Written by Lennon/Ono,beautiful song,one of the most lovely songs i have ever heard. 'How do you sleep?' As we nearly ALL know,this is about "Paul McCartney",John was very bitter with him at the time. 'How?' No question,reep the money John and you CAN go on,cos,Yoko is the buisiness woman! 'Oh Yoko' Speaks for itself,dose'nt it. Still there you go,my Third fave Lennon album. L'album non ha bisogno di recensioni, ma il vinile e quello che si trova dentro è tutto perfetto. Bello, bello e bello, vinile pulito. Un bel poster grande e delle cartoline.

ジョン・レノンの金字塔『Imagine』が発売された1971年、私はまだ1歳でした。本作との本当の出会いは、橋の設計のアルバイトに明け暮れていた19歳、1989年の初夏のことです。ポールの『Band on the Run』や『Flowers In The Dirt』に続き、ビートルズのソロ作品を辿る中で手にしたのがこのCDでした。 私が洋楽を聴き始めた1983年当時、すでにジョンは伝説の存在でした。ビートルズのリーダー格であり、そのショッキングな最期も相まって、彼は完全に神格化されたカリスマとして語られていました。私が本作を選んだのも、彼の代名詞とも言えるタイトル曲への期待からでしたが、当時の率直な感想は「半分がバラードで、名声の割にはどこか物足りない」というものでした。 最近、改めてアナログ盤の針を落としてみました。 ブルース調の「It's So Hard」や、鋭いロック・ナンバー「Gimme Some Truth」の格好良さは格別です。また、バラード群も佳曲揃いですが、白眉は「Imagine」と「Jealous Guy」の2曲。個人的には、タイトル曲以上に「Jealous Guy」の旋律の美しさに強く惹かれます。 一方で、大人になった今聴くと、いくつか違和感も覚えます。一つは、タイトル曲で対立や憎悪の無意味さを説きながら、後半の「How Do You Sleep?」で辛辣にポールを批判している矛盾。もう一つは歌唱の変化です。デビュー当時の艶やかで早熟な響きに比べ、この時期の彼の声には、どこか耳に刺さるような鋭さを感じてしまいます。 世間の固定観念を排して実績を見れば、解散後もスタジアム・ツアーを成功させ、ヒットを量産し続けたポールに軍配が上がるでしょう。しかし、それでもなお、本作が「永遠のカリスマ」の力を証明し、人々の心に残り続ける名盤であるという事実は揺るぎません。
