The mouse itself (sold separately) has an inbuilt battery that needs to be charged every so often. **Q: Is this suitable for the first mx master or mx master 2?** A: I have tested my Mx Master 2S , it does not fit (unless perhaps forced) the shape of the top catches the mouse on closing.
