I use these in my gun safe to protect my investment from the high humidity in Florida. I tried the bucket type of DampRid but it was a concern about spilling and creating more of a problem then what it solved. I have been using these hanger bags for a little over two years now and am very happy with the result. Just open the package and the bag will unfold into a slim profile. Hang it out of the way and feel confident that it will keep humid air from your safe. They are self contained in that the crystals are near the top and there is a sealed water containment bag below the crystals. I can just hang a bag in the safe and it will last about 3 months in a mostly closed safe in an air conditioned Florida home. I have no worries about spilling the water that is removed from the air and I have never had a bag failure in the couple of years I have used them. I am confident that the contents of my safe are protected from the high humidity and one small investment of less then ten dollars will last me about 9 months. About once a month I check the bag and if the crystals are hard or clumping together I just squeeze the bag and break them up. I don't know why but it seems like the right thing to do.

At the time of this review, I have purchased by 3rd package. This product took me by surprise. My sister-in-law was the one that introduced me to it and since I purchased it, I cannot live without it. Humidity in my country is extremely high, so it damages everything really quick, but not my clothe anymore! As per the product's description, it can last up to 60 days, but in my closet it lasts exactly 2 weeks, that's how bad humidity is in my place. I have it in the closet that is just at the entrance of my apartment, and the extra feature of having a light and fresh scent is a super plus because my entrance always smells good. :-) It definitely captures all the humidity in the area and does its job extremely well. The single thing that I would like to get improved is how you discard it at the end. Although I have had no water spill yet, I think that one day the bag will brake inside the trash can and there will be a water spill. I hope that it will not happen, but that is definitely something that can occur and may need to be improved on the next generation of this product. Buy it with confidence, it is extremely good.

I love these. We live on Cape Cod and our basements can become quite damp in the rainy seasons. They work awesome, just hang and forget them until the bag is full with water, then replace. We cut a small one in the full bag and put it into a watering can. Recycling water

Shortly after moving to the Pacific Northwest coast to be near family, a relative brought over 2 boxes of DampRid FG83K Hanging Moisture Absorber Fresh Scent, 3 count and 2 DampRid FG50T Hi-Capacity Moisture Absorber, 4-Pound Tub s. He explained that he had learned the hard way that mold and mildew were common to the area. He placed the hangers in four closets and two bathrooms and put both tubs in the garage. He was not all of the way out of the driveway when I took down the hangers from the bathrooms. These things are just not attractive, at all. Even if there was a moisture problem, I figured we would have the windows open often enough for ventilation in areas as large as the bathrooms. I was wrong. Barely a day went by before I smelled mildew in the most used bathroom. The hangers went back up. For the third time in six months, I am back to order replacement hangers and buckets. Coming from a mountain-prairie part of the country, it is still amazing to see the amount of water these things suck out of the air. Yes, I still think the hangers in particular are ugly, but there have not been any more instances of smelling mildew, which makes them more attractive. I like and highly recommend them. I would love them if there were more design options.

These Damp Rid products are great for any place in your home that is susceptible to dampness. I learned my lesson the hard way several years ago when I had a double closet and put my off-season clothes in the back section and closed them off for the winter, only to open up the closet in the spring and disover that thousands of dollars of clothes and shoes had been overtaken by fuzz (living mold and mildew) due to the condensation coming up from my basement. Now, every closet in the house gets a Damp Rid and I have never had anything ever mildew since. My parents close up their house in FL for the hot summer months and put these everywhere to save their house from the humidity and they work like a charm under sinks, in the bathrooms, in every room of the house - and are great for campers, boats, etc. I sound like a commercial - but they are really affordable and save a lot of clean-up and work and even smell fresh too! Just be careful around pets or animals - they are not edible.

I was looking for a portable dehumidifier and didn't need to be plugged in before I found this product. Coincidentally, the only reason I found this product is because someone made a video review of it and had put it in the bathroom, closet, all over the house. The manufacturer says it can last up to 90 days, in our house, it's only lasted 30 days each packet! I must say though, this product really absorbs a lot of the moisture in the bathroom and closet area. I used to shower, and afterwards, there would be moist air that would trap odors and moldy smell. Same with the closet area - there would be a musky scent from the wetness. I live by the beach, so there's bound to be moisture in the air. I am now able to see exactly how much moisture this product absorbs and converts into water. The bathroom also seems drier and less prone to grow mold. Excellent product, I've bought it again in the Lavender Vanilla scent; we'll see how that goes.

I purchased this product because I rent out of an old house built in the 1940s that has not been renovated much, just maintained, and because it's an older home, I noticed my closet getting extremely humid one summer and it would trap that moisture all season. My clothes began to smell of mildew and I needed a quick fix to prevent mold from ruining my wardrobe. This pack comes with three, but I only needed to use one for the rest of the summer (about three months). It worked great, there was no more smell in my clothes and it is easy to see the product working and to throw away. I did not have any problems with leaking, but I can see how a rip would cause some trouble, so maybe put a rag underneath it when you first hang it up just in case. I recommend this product for small spaces that trap moisture.

This is actually our second purchase of these water absorbers. We bought a new house a few years ago, and the basement didn't really smell bad, but it did have a bit of that basement feeling and smell. We ended up buying a few types of products to help, but settled on these after they proved their worth. We have a couple of these hung up downstairs in our basement in a couple different rooms. It's amazing how much water these things absorb. Obviously, it's not a quick process, but rather an ongoing one. it's interestung to go down after a few weeks into the laundry room and see the difference in the amount of water this has absorbed. These things really do make a big difference. After a while, I don't know how long, but I went downstairs and noticed it didn't really have that basement smell or feeling anymore. The bags had soaked up the extra moisture in the air. We also noticed a couple areas where we had exposed pipes that sometimes had marks under them where we assume water had slowly collected. After using these items (and washing those areas before we hung these up) we noticed these areas a lot less. In our laundry room is obviously where we've seen the most difference. I would recommend these if you're looking to find a product that will help pick up moisture from the air to keep your home in a bit better condition. Obviously, they've worked for us and have kept our basement in better condition, that's why we are coming back! (I will see if my hubby still has the old one and get pics of the before and after to post up) Ok, the picture below is the last one we ordered where it is completely full of water it's collected from our laundry room. Absolutely crazy!! These things work for sure!!!

This works exactly as it should ! I use it in my RV over winter storage time and I have now started to use it in my closets at home. I didn’t realize how much moisture accumulated at home but this draws it right out and you can visually see how much is in the bag ! Would recommend if you have moisture in your home or RV.

These are brilliant. I have been using them for years and are about the only product to work well in our wardrobes.

These are super handy to hang in closets in basements etc. With the hanger hook built in and a bag in the bottom that fills with water I have found it has removed that mildew smell entirely from my older homes basement closets.

The smell is a bit much. It’s a sickly sweet air freshener scent that eventually fades, but it did help with the excessive moisture in our washroom (no fan - old house).
