way to go for one cup at a time
My wife and I had to cut back on coffee consumption and stopped making a whole pot in the morning. Also, I need to drink half caffeinated and she usually takes full strength. We decided a one cup maker would be the way to go. We didn't like the wastefulness and expense of pods. We gave this a try because we'd used a Capresso maker for many years and were happy with it. This is a very basic machine. You put the grounds into the reusable basket, pour in the water, put your cup on the stand (don't forget this part!) and push the button. No brew settings, no beeping to let you know the coffee is ready, no hot surface to try to keep the cup warm. There is also no valve under the filter to keep it from dripping when you remove the cup. We've just gotten in the habit of emptying the grounds before we take the cup out from under the machine most of the time. Oh, as others have mentioned, the travel cup that comes with this is REALLY terrible! Capresso should do better. So it's got it's flaws but...we really like the way the coffee comes out. The temperature is right and it brews at the proper speed to let the flavor come though and it's easy to use.

solid
I like it. It works well and it makes great tasting coffee. I'm becoming a bit of a coffee snob, so I'd say the coffee tastes very similar to the one I'm getting using a Hario Pegasus dripper. Smooth, with good extraction. (Those that like a faster extraction and more acidic taste could enlarge the drip hole.) I usually use it with paper fillers as it makes cleanup easier and apparently filtered coffee is healthier than unfiltered. I use "Amazon Basics Basket Coffee Filters for 1-4 Cup Coffee Makers, White, 200 Count". These fit well in place of the included plastic mesh filter. Using the included reusable filler gives great coffee too, a bit more oily and flavorful (some of the oils stay the mesh of the reusable filler). The included mug is nice enough and elegant but it does not insulate too well. Not a big issue for me if the hot coffee cools down somewhat, I usually finish it before it gets too cold.

Great coffee maker - with some caveats and workarounds.
This is a very good compact coffee maker for home or travel. If not for a few design flaws, I would give it five stars. I initially bought this for travel, but find myself using it in place of my Cuisinart full-sized coffee maker when just making coffee for myself. It works great in hotel rooms, or when when staying at other people's homes/rentals while traveling. It can even work at rest stops, provided a plug-in can be found. The pros: small size, very quiet, nice mug, and great coffee once the nuances of making it are learned. It even works well for a second mug using a 2nd run-through of the original grounds if a small amount of new grounds are added. It takes 5 min or less to brew a mug of coffee which is much faster than my full-sized coffee maker. The cons: the included filter leaks grounds into the mug, the top of the coffee maker will not stay up, and there is no auto-shut off which can cause drips and spills to occur if the mug is removed before all the liquid has flowed from the basket above. For me, the worst issue is the propensity of the water and grounds overflow the brew basket. This results in the grounds backflowing into the water reservoir causing a messy cleanup, plus a nasty amount of grounds in the mug. All these issues can be overcome, however. I use a small paper basket filter which works much better than the included filter, and have learned to grind my own coffee to the proper coarseness. It took some hit and miss to figure this out. Finely ground coffee does not work well at all with this maker since it tends to float over the top of the basket. Adding only 2.5 to 3.0 teaspoons of course coffee grounds (1-tsp = 1 flat scoop) normally prevents the backflow issue. If you add more than 3 scoops for the first run, it can be risky. On the second cup, you can add another 1/2 scoop or so and still have good coffee without having backflow issues. I normally fill the mug to only 3/4 full when adding water to the reservoir. Any more than this can result in backflow issues or overly weak coffee. The hot water flows through the basket and into the mug rather quickly, so there is still some "oomph" remaining in the grounds after the first mug is made. The grounds are course, after all. I fashioned a small tube which can be inserted into the hinge of the lid to keep it from falling down while adding grounds to the basket, or cleaning/drying the coffee maker. With all these work-arounds, I am very happy with this unit after using if for almost a year now.

Hot Stuff!
This little coffee maker is absolutely perfect! I like super hot coffee, and this maker is HOT! I’ve tried several others before landing on this one and could not be happier! I previously owned two Keurigs with temperature and brew strength controls. It was all just for show, the Settings did nothing, and never affected the outcome of my coffee. The coffee was MEH and warm. Both keurigs were upwards of $150, and broke within 13 months, conveniently just out of warranty. I will never buy another Keurig. This one is over 3 times cheaper too! Capresso is making mornings great again!

Coffee Maker Stops Working/Warranty Inconvenient
After just a few months, the coffee maker stopped filtering through completely. Per the manual we did the "descaling" process a few time, but that never worked. In order to continue to use the coffee maker, we had to push the start button 3 or 4 times in order to get the full brew. With a one year limited warranty, we contacted the manufacturer. No problem, they said just send us the receipt. Did that, but then we were told we had to cut the cord and mail them a photo before they would send out the replacement. I explained this is our only coffee maker in the house. Not good to have to go without coffee until a working coffee maker arrives. Well, that did not matter. This is their policy. So, yes, we cut the cord and waited about 6 days until the replacement arrived. Very inconvenient and not at all customer friendly. We'll use this one until/if it stops working. After that never again a Capresso coffee maker.

Needs improvement
I purchased this higher end coffee maker because the quality of coffee makers under $30 that I previously purchased have been awful. I only use this to make hot water for tea, and pour over coffee. I find it less messy then dealing with the filter and cleaning coffee from a coffee machine. Pros: * The water gets hot enough to make a great cup of coffee or tea. It seems hotter than other similar products I have used before * Good quality compared to the cheaper models I have tried. The plastic seems thicker and it looks like it will last longer than a cheaper coffee maker. * It looks great on a counter top. * The mug is durable and good quality . * Seems to brew a bit quicker then other brands I have tried. Cons: * Very difficult to see the inside water line. I place the water in the cup yet only 3/4 full and then pour the water in the machine then make sure that it is not overly full. Because the water line is very difficult to see I make sure to keep a bright light on, and prefil the machine during the day when I m awake so I dont over fill the coffee maker prior to my first cup of morning coffee when I m sleepy. You definitely have to be awake with a bright light to barely see the water line. * The on / off button ( red button on the side ) does NOT automatically turn off you have to press the button to turn it on and off AND there is a second ! Button under where the mug is that lights up in blue you have to press that to start the brewing cycle. That automatically shuts off after the brewing cycle. However you still have to then turn off the red button on the side manually! I find this extremely annoying because I purchased this because of the auto off button. I should have read more about the buttons prior to purchasing. Yes the brew button is automatic yet the on / off button is not * The only button that lights up is the brew button which is in the front.* The on/off red button on the side Does NOT! Light up. Which is annoying because the lit button is a reminder to turn it off. Overall it seems to be better quality then the cheaper models / brands and will last longer. Because of the temperature of the water it seems to make a better cup of coffee. Classy looking. It's worth the extra $ s because of the quality. However it will take some time to get used to. I m hoping that eventually they will improve this to at the very least come up with a clear water compartment to show how much water is poured. I'm not sure if I ll be able to get used to dealing with the extra on off button or not. I ll keep this coffee maker yet I ll probably look for a better quality coffee maker even if it is not a 1 cup machine that is simple and has 1 button instead of 2 and that one button being an auto shut off button.

Great coffee machine.
This is the best coffee machine I've bought. Although it's a drip system, coffee comes out very quickly for a great cup of coffee. I love that it's 16oz too; it was the only machine i found with the capacity of a larger cup of coffee. I buy the small sized coffee filters, trim them a little, and the left over ground comes out of the included basket without any scrubbing. Very happy with this purchase.

UPDATE to "Needs To Cool Down After Each Brew."
UPDATE---After two years of satisfactory use this coffee maker began to fail to brew an entire cup, leaving some water in the reservoir. Other reviewers have also mentioned this problem. I tried the vinegar cleaning process several times to no avail. I was forced to move on to another brand. Revising my previous 3 stars to 5 stars. This coffee maker has performed flawlessly for me for over a year now, so it deserves more stars. I'm just a one cuppa day kinda guy, so I can't see paying big bucks for other coffee makers that do everything except bake bread when this little guy does the job. The oddity about this coffee maker is that once you have brewed a cup, it shuts off and will not turn on again until it has cooled down. I have seen other reviews from those who thought it died after the first use. So did I, but after it cooled down I tried it again and it came back to life. The instruction manual that comes with it says nothing about this cool down scenario. It is compact and lightweight, great for limited counter space.

Makes good hot coffee in no time
This coffee maker is simple, makes strong hot coffee in no time and is so easy to clean. I love the full stainless steel travel mug that comes with it. It also takes little space on the counter. I definitely recommend it!

Good product
I use the product to make my morning 16 oz coffee. ☕️ I love the fact that it makes a large 16 oz mug of coffee. Many products only make small liquid sizes. The only thing that could be improved is the temperature of coffee, could be a little hotter. Nice product…🥰
