So true to what actually goes on in the Mormon faith and temple today...

So true to what actually goes on in the Mormon faith and temple today because of same sex relationships. Beautiful tale of love that crosses boundaries and breaks glass ceilings between two beautiful people. It is movies and forms of art like this that will get present-day rightist groups to change their perspectives and begin to discuss issues of inclusion, or rather exclusion, of people from all walks of life, backgrounds, identities, and all uncontrollable labels they jump to associating "outsiders" or anomalies in a more comfortable atmosphere to stand up for their members. Jesus preaches forgiveness and inclusion and while words and scriptures can be interpreted in any way to make whatever "truth" a group views as "reality," it is the teachings of the gospel that speak louder than human interpretation. This movie does a great job of clarifying that morality and being ethically sound is a mindset that stretches across all religions, cultures, genders, appearances and humankind in general so that love is simply just that - love, the purest form of affection and endearment a HUMAN may feel for another PERSON, that is void of all labels and exists as an innate primal human emotion that, just as sure as the way we are born with no say as to whom we express love towards, is beyond our control but beautiful in its intent and experience. I would give this movie 100 stars if I could because it's just so raw and the actors understand the intensity of which this emotion can spiral everything you once knew in a complete 180 degree state of confusion alongside the inner turmoil felt in an identity crisis; it's a coming-of-age through coming-out tale of love that knows no limits and in which only God may judge, a power limited to the ultimate creator and not a privilege belonging to any religion, church clergymen, temple leaders, groups of people,"Elders," nor even Jesus himself, as stated in the new testament. Brought me to tears. LOVE LOVE LOVE, definitely felt the torn apart feelings one goes through having to choose between the ultimate power of our spirituality and our love for someone that is beyond our ability to control it, let alone suppress it and "pray it away" or hope that conversion therapy proves to be efficacious (preposterous and inhumane form religious torture that Jesus died for us to be able to live our lives without such internal self-, or, external-damnation).

Truly one of the best films of its kind

*by D***F on Reviewed in the United States on June 13, 2018*

Truly one of the best films of its kind, walks the fine line between being hilarious and tearjerker.A superb cast across the board.Possibly one of the most powerful scenes ever filmed is between a mother finding out her son is gay and is absolutely not accepting of this fact. It's a tough scene to watch as a mother ( performed brilliantly by Mary Kay place) tells her son she cannot accept who he is(son played by the doe-eyed Steve Sandvoss in what should have been at the career-defining role). One of the few movies that actually makes you care about the characters involved. If you're open-minded enough to viewing a gay character led film, you can't do much better than this one.

I saw myself and so many of my loved ones in the mormon main character

*by M***S on Reviewed in the United States on July 4, 2018*

I was skeptical about the mormon part of this movie. They did get a few things wrong but I really couldnt care less. Ive spent my whole life surrounded by the lds church and this movie stirred something inside me. I saw myself and so many of my loved ones in the mormon main character. Its a self hatred so ingrained in you that nothing shakes it. Somehow this movie shook me. It started like just another lustful gay movie. But it turned into so much more. I'm really glad I watched to the end. I know I will be returning to this one.
