### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

    His Creative peak!

His best album by a wide margin IMO. The previous albums had bigger commercial hits, but TAO is a complete package brilliantly executed. The musicianship and production are amazing. Repeated listens are the key. You need to take it in a few times to appreciate it. Songs like Written In Rock, Tao of Love, Stranger In The House and Standing on The Edge are absolute jems. As great as the music is, the lyrics may be the best part for some. It’s a very dark album lyrically due to the depression he was going through at the time. This is a perfect example of a “headphones” album.

Working Class Dog was fun, Success Hasn't Spoiled Me was very teen pop

This is pure techno Rick. I think back in the 1980s he was just experimenting with where he wanted to go musically. Working Class Dog was fun, Success Hasn't Spoiled Me was very teen pop, Living in Oz was rock, Tao was techno and then Rock of Life was his mature album. If you want some of the different phases of Rick then this is one you should have. Not what I would call an essential record amongst all the other records of the world in any way but a good one if you're into Rick's music.
