This comes in handy at home doing the fix- it jobs around the house that we have grown to expect from time to time. I have multimeters but wanted the amp clamp this has. I made a test line using an old extension cord by separating the lines so the clamp could get around them and now I can test for amps on anything I can plug into the extension cord. It is built sturdy enough for home use and a little bit more. As people say it isn't a $200 instrument but I don't need that level of performance. If I use this once a month it will satisfy my needs. The instructions leave a lot to be desired but that is what youtube is for!
