Excellent Handwriting Curriculum โ Perfect for Homeschooling
We love using the Handwriting Without Tears 1st Grade Printing Bundle for homeschooling. This curriculum makes handwriting feel much less frustrating for kids and much more structured for parents teaching at home. The student workbook is well laid out with clear, simple instructions and just the right amount of practice on each page โ not overwhelming, but enough for skill building. The writing journal is a great addition for helping kids apply handwriting skills in real writing situations instead of just tracing or repetitive drills. The teacherโs guide is very helpful, especially if youโre homeschooling and want step-by-step guidance. It explains how to teach letter formation, pacing, and how to help if your child is struggling. The desk strip and tiny pencils are also nice touches that help reinforce correct letter formation and grip. The program feels very age-appropriate for first grade and keeps kids engaged without feeling like busywork.โ ProsVery homeschool-friendly and easy to followClear, structured handwriting progressionTeacher guide is genuinely helpfulIncludes helpful extras (desk strip, tiny pencils)Builds confidence without overwhelming kidsโ ๏ธ ConsSome kids may move faster or slower than the pacing (may need to adjust)If you prefer very colorful or flashy workbooks, this is more simple and structured๐ Best ForHomeschool families, tutoring, or supplemental handwriting practice for early elementary students.Overall:This is a fantastic handwriting curriculum that works really well in a homeschool setting. Itโs structured, easy to teach from, and helps kids build strong handwriting fundamentals without frustration. We would absolutely use this program again.

My son has loved using this to learn handwriting. The worksheets made it easy and laid back to learn handwriting.

Where is the money and helps improve handwriting for first graders
My daughter finished this book in about six months. It really helped improve her handwriting like they said without tears we are looking forward to buying the next edition for second grade.

Great writing program!
We are new to handwriting without tears. So far so good! Kids love the option to practice on the chalkboard, especially the erasing part! The lessons are pretty short and do no overwhelm the kids. My daughter hates handwriting practice and these lessons she doesnโt mind. Feels less like a โchoreโ for here. The lessons are simple but high quality instruction is given in the teachers manual, with optional extensions for lessons. Looking forward to working through this program with my 3 kids!

Helps with Writing
This is a really helpful writing bundle I got for my child who is in the 1st grade. The teacher's guide is helpful and provides a lot of tips and suggestions if you have a special needs child (ASD, Down syndrome, Poor Vision, Cerebral Palsy, Dyslexia, and Dysgraphia), writing remediation tips, tips for ESL students, etc.The student workbook might seem simple because it's in black and white, but the teacher's guide explains why it is (to avoid confusing backgrounds, colored graphics, crowded pages, etc). The teacher's guide also provides information on multi sensory activities you can do with your child. One downside is that some of the activities include downloads and activities found on the lwtears.com website, which you have to register, pay after 30 days, and sign up for. However, you can still do the writing assignments without that. There is a syllabus that you can follow for the various writing exercises, which include the need for access to the website, but I found it's not an issue just skipping those and not registering. If you do have multiple children or homeschool, it would be worth it, IMO.A big plus is that the children's handwriting workbook lays flat, and is easy for my child to write without the center of the book curling in at the spine. There are simple pictures to color after the writing activities. The exercises in the children's handwriting workbook are easy to follow along, and the teacher's guide provides guidance on the alphabet and numbers. Some of it might seem repetitive, but it provides really helpful tips so your child can follow along and write as you assist them. The multi sensory activities are also fun - there are exercises to do before writing, and ways to teach your child without just reading directions aloud. One activity was pointing two fingers close together but not touching, so show the small spacing needed between letters. I'll definitely be using this bundle from the end of the school year throughout the summer so that my child's handwriting skills can improve.

All in one package for learning to print
I love these packs with the teachers' manuals, student workbook, a composition book, and the perfect for little hands sized pencils. Great for the home educator. Everything in one package makes it a good value. This will be my second time teaching this grade, but thanks to this pack I will have the dedicated teacher's manual to go with the book. While Handwriting for Tears is not for every child, it is very helpful to those who need a little more guidance and a little more work. At the back of the Teacher's Manual for this grade there are also helpful reminders and tips for particular learning challenges including dysgraphia.

Not for us
I personally didn't care for the layout, but I've heard great things about it. It's just not for my homeschoolers.

Great handwriting program
My son is enjoying this program, his handwriting has already improved after only a couple weeks. His favorite thing is the โtiny pencilsโ. I was able to find all the songs on YouTube. My older kids are using the same program for cursive and it is also a wonderful program. They were previously using the good and the beautiful cursive and both have said they like this program much better (and theyโre learning a lot more in a shorter time)

Super organized and helpful
I loved it came so quick and so organized. The parent/teacher guide gives you a weekly layout for how to advance with this, itโs wonderful! My son is really enjoying it I love how easy it is to follow.
