A: All dried beans including dried black beans can be softened and cooked in various ways. .... The easiest/quickest is by pressure cooking them.  Or they can be cooked in the oven or on the stovetop in only 20-30 min longer than if soaked (often starting with boiling water).  Or they can be pre-soaked and then cooked afterwards (quick-soaked by boiling for 1-2 min then letting sit for an hour; or regular soaked by soaking in water at least 4-6 hours).... Good fair price. This along with red kidney beans is used for chili and making Cajun rice and beans, economical and practical just needs soaking for 24 hours and boil it for 2 hours without salt. Throw away the water by straining in colander and it's ready to cook. It's good for people with type 2 diabetes like me. Soaking and boiling also lowers the glycemic index and also remove oxalates and 2 hours of boiling=less or no farting. Lol.
