Do i need to change the location of the unit or can I place it and forget it?

You install the device and device drives away rodents in the zone of its action. You do not need to move the device, otherwise rodents may return. If the device was installed on the sun it means that it works and charges at the same time. But if the device was installed in the shade, you need to charge it on the sun from time to time.

Will they work on groundhogs?

No it does not. I returned mine after attempting to use for groundhogs.. did not work.

How many feet can I hear the noise? Is it a buzzing sound?

The device makes a beeping tone about every 30 seconds. I can't answer the distance question. I can't hear it in the house with the doors and windows closed. I can hear it with the door or window open. The device is 5 feet from the window and 10 feet from the door. I don't know how far away I would have to move it in order to not hear it.

How long does the solar charge last?

I have had them out for over a year and hear them going off day and night so while I can't give a specific answer on how long a charge lasts I can say through all seasons and lengths of day/night they have kept working.
