Question 1

I need to cover an outside overhead light above the front door. Size is approximately 10” wide x 2” high. Which product should I order?

Accepted Answer

Is it an LED light?
We can laser cut custom sizes for free when you order direct. But below are some links to products that would work if you cut them yourself. Remember you can always layer/stack LightDIms to get the desired effect, and you can mix and match different products but for most people one sheet works fine.
Subtle warm white Dims and softens the light.

Neutral maintains the lights color and dims and softens.

Original dims but does not soften, and like all LightDims works indoors or outdoors. But also works on displays.

Medium strength is best for displays but if layered it becomes more like Original Strength,

Question 2

Will these make the light a little more yellow? i have a white led that is so harsh.

Accepted Answer

Short answer yes. I only recommend our Subtle warm if you have lights that are very cool in tone. If you put our Subtle warm products on a light that is already neutral or warm in tone then the warming effect will be intensified and probably undesirable.
Here are the products in the links below. Although this is subjective and unique your your tastes I feel Medium strength is best for annoying displays on things like alarm systems or surround receivers. Feel free to email us directly if you need a custom laser cut roll or shapes.

Ok I have a few more products you may like but I did not note them 1st because on cheap Chinese made, low CRI rating strip lights which are very common sometimes there is a color shift with our WhiteDims LightDims. But the White DIms are actually preferable for your needs in my opinion because they not only dim like the products above but they soften the lights which makes them extremely desirable. But as I said on LOW CRI rated cheap strip lights there can be an undesirable color shift if and only if you apply the WhiteDims directly on top of the LED strip lights LED. If a color shift occurs the only solution is to get some sort of gap between the LED strip light by about 1 or 3 mm then the problem goes away if there was a problem in the first place. Some customers have aplastic cover over the strip to begin with, if you have that there is no risk of a color shift. These LightDIms are in the links below and baring the color shift possibility I find these the best solution for your need.

This version below are subtle warm and result in a warmer yellow tone. Only choose these if your LED light is very cool. Some customers swear these have changed their life for the better and others say they are a bit too yellow. The results are subjective and are contingent on your specific lights tone.

Question 3

Does this package include the filter for subtle warm?

Accepted Answer

This product is the "Subtle Warm version of WhiteDims, LightDims"
So yes.

Question 4

What works for dimming Halogen or Incandescent?

Accepted Answer

Incandescent and halogen get extremely hot over 350F. Unfortunately our LIGHTDIMS products are designed and formulated for LED lights and can handle up to 205F. Above 205F LIGHTDIMS get soft and at 350F they will melt. Unless you have a cover over your Halogen or incandescent light which the LIGHTDIM can be applied to and the temp of the cover is less than 205F.
