Infusoria is perfect for fry that might be too small to take microworms, such as bettas, tetras, corydoras and baby dwarf shrimp, to name a few. They only need to stay on infusoria for about a week after hatching, until they have grown a little bit more and can eat the larger live foods like microscopic worms. These starter cultures were not taken from dirty outdoor water nor any raw material from outside so there is no jeopardy of contamination or anything that can be harmful to fish. The picture with green matter is one of the existing cultures these starter cultures are pulled from. The infusoria cultures that are shipped do not contain any vegetable matter or s. The culture is shipped in a dark amber 4-oz bottle that is not completely filled to the top so that there is some oxygen exchange for the infusoria while in transit. You will not be able to see the infusoria in this dark-colored bottle, so you might want to transfer it to a clear, larger container and add matter so that the culture continues to reproduce.
