Perfect for my grandmother!
My 97 year old grandmother was having problems with her digital phone. She never could get used to pushing a button to answer the phone and pushing a button to hang up the phone. It became a safety issue when we'd try calling and couldn't get through to her and she would try calling and would get frustrated because it "didn't work". When I would visit she would comment about the "broken phone" and want me to call the phone company to fix the line. Finally I decided to do a little Amazon research and found this Kettle Classic desk phone. It's perfect and just what she needed. No buttons to push to answer or hang up. Not only that but she loves the color. It's an almost gold like finish that matches with her living room furniture (picture included). She told me that it makes her feel like a Rockefeller with her fancy phone. Every time I go over she asks me if I've seen her new phone. I always act surprised and impressed. It makes me happy that she loves it, and relieved that it's easy for her to use. An excellent product that I recommend for anyone, but particularly recommend this for those of us with seniors in our lives who have problems with the tiny little buttons on the overly complicated digital phones. I also purchased the Black Kettle classic desk phone for her bedroom nightstand and that one is awesome too. Great product. Either color. Both beautiful AND functional. P.S. The color is not a brushed chrome. It's more like a muted gold color, as you can see in the photo. Regardless it's still awesome! Terrific phone. But you might want to change the color description.

UPDATE: still adorable but no longer working (Adorable -- right out of my girlhood!)
Oh this phone is just adorable! And it rings with a bell -- OK, a digital recording of a bell -- but makes me smile every time I hear it. It has basic features -- redial, flash, pulse or tone, soft or loud ring, and the ring can be turned off. If you need call waiting, voice mail, other special features, you'll have to get them from your land-line provider. It's heavy enough to feel like the real thing in my hand, and the voice quality is excellent. I'm a child of WW2 and have it in my old-time-themed bedroom with a faux Tiffany lamp, antique case pieces, a wood desk chair from around 1910, and a 100+ year old mantel clock -- fits right in. A very good price for a very good phone. UPDATE: The above was all true until about an hour ago, when the unit ceased to function. I've checked everything -- no joy, Was hoping to enjoy this phone for several years....ain't gonna happen. Shoulda taken the product warranty for $5 more. Too late to return.....

I love antique rotary phones and have a couple from the ...
I love antique rotary phones and have a couple from the 30s and 40s -- but because they are so expensive, I hesitate to use them on a regular basis and keep them out mostly for show. I bought the Crosley Candlestick and loved it -- not only does it look cool, but has the heft and cloth cord of the original.. so it was a worthy "daily dialier". I wanted a phone for the living room that fit my vintage decor AND be used laying down (which the Candlestick model is not suited for) -- so I ordered this phone which is modeled after the Leich 90 telephones of the 30s. The handset on this phone is much lighter than on the Crosley Candlestick. I was hoping they would have weighted it in a similar way to give it the "heft" of the older phones.. and the feel of the old receivers in your hand. This does not have the heft, but it is comfortable and the sound quality is loud and clear. The bell ringer works just fine....not overly loud and obnoxious. Sadly the cord is coiled, and not a straight cloth covered cord. A straight cord would have been better... but I have to say they did a nice job with this cord. It's not the cheap flat coiled cord... but the rounded coil which resists bunching and stretching much more than the flat coiled versions. This cord should retain its look for some time unless you're one of those people who insists on stretching the cord beyond its limits...and there's plenty of cord here that you shouldn't need to stretch it too far. Overall it is a nice reproduction. Other reviewers seem all bent out of shape that it isn't exactly like an original. Of course it isn't! It's a reproduction designed to give you the LOOK -- which it does. It LOOKS great sitting on my end table -- fits in perfectly with my 30's/40's decor and works well as a daily use phone.

Classic Telephone with Modern Capabilities -- Updated March 3
Everything about this phone is pretty cool. I have the brushed chrome version and I like the well built feel of it. I plugged it right into our cable provided voice over internet phone lines and it worked form the first moment. The sound quality is good and the buttons and redial feature work just fine. It looks good on the desk and it enables us to provide a phone number for all sorts of things without always having unwanted calls come to our cell phones. Update: March 3,2013 Well I have had the phone a couple of months or so now and we use it everyday. Again, using it on a VOIP Cable Internet connection and not one single problem with dropped calls, scratchy calls, etc.... The only annoying thing is that sometimes there is a slight delay when you pick up the phone and say hello (this is not the phones fault, it is lag time over an internet connection). The only thing we have found that we do not like about the phone is that the handset does not sit evenly in the cradle. The button that serves as the switch hook directly in the center of the cradle is a little tall and so the handset does not sit all the way down into the cradle. No effect on operation, just simply an anoyance.

1 star for appearance only
This is a very attractive phone to which I put a lot of effort into finding this style. It's location in my home is one where it is not used very often. In 3 months it was used less than half a dozen times. I was shocked and extremely disappointed to try to answer a call recently and hear nothing on the other end. The other caller was able to hear me. There was no dial tone. Even trying different lines and phone jacks did not help. There is no damage to the phone. I have been trying to contact the seller: Northstar Electronics, but have been unable to get through on the phone number listed on Amazon or receive a reply via their e-mail contact. Even if I decide to try to have the phone replaced/repaired by the original manufacture, I will be out another $20 for shipping costs they require. This has been a complete waste of money and a total disappointment! Update: 5/2008-Almost a year later and I never heard back from Northstar Electronics despite many attempts to contact them. I hope the new seller listed on this page is more helpful! I did end up sending the phone to the manufacture (Crosley). It cost me $20, but I did promptly receive a replacement phone which is still working. However, it is not used often and I keep waiting to hear nothing the next time I pick up the receiver. Good luck if you choose to buy.

Love the Classic Look
Nice to find Crosley phones available on this website. Great for a landline phone.

Not quiet what I expected
I had previously ordered the Crosley wall phone in red. The quality was nice, it was shiny and felt solid. I purchased the black Crosley desk phone and found it to lack the same quality in material. Works fine, looks very cool. One bit of info that would have been helpful when buying this and seeing that others were buying the extra long cord to go with the phone is that you cannot attach the extended cord to the handset. I had to purchase a phone line coupler to extend my cord. That would have been handy info prior to purchase.

Nice, would buy it again & probably will for a different room
We really like it, we've had the silver model CR62-BC desk phone a few months now. It works well. Love the ring, old fashioned. I've turned the ringers off of most our handset models that we have in other parts of the house. There are 3 buttons hidden on the bottom; one to turn the ringer on/off, one to go from pulse/ring and the other for the ringer to be high/low. It has a hefty weight to it like really were old. Our home has an art deco influence, it fits well. The price didn't seem outrageous, based on some other folks comments though I did buy the Amazon warrant on it for a few bucks.

Crosley Classic Telephone
Read many mixed reviews about the phone. That said I didnโt exactly expect something earth shattering. The phone is perfectly functional, super cute, sounds great and has a fabulous retro look to it. Taper your expectations and enjoy it. For an extra phone with a really cool antique vibe, this phone is perfect and fairly priced. Itโs not designed for your companyโs reception switchboard but for a cute conversation piece that works well in a home... itโs perfect !
