Obviously, you can use it for android and windows phones but you can also use this to communicate with Xbox One and PS4 (that's why I bought it). But there's a wiring kink in the 3.5mm end of the cord. I bought two of them and they both, just from normal use (including just possibly getting snagged on a couch corner or from connection bouncing from running or doing other dynamic exercising). The wiring inside the rubber layer starts becoming lose at the 3.5mm end and one side loses sound until you put pressure at that 3.5mm from pinching the wire. I like them a lot, I bought one in the past but I broke that myself (I ran with them multiple times, wire bouncing all over the place and the thing still worked great), so I just swallowed my anger and bought two more to be on the "future proofing" side. This time, I'm disappointed. They just started shorting out themselves. Be cautious and look at there return/exchange policy to know what's up. It works, meaning that everything sounds fine, and I an actually control the volume up and down; the latter is something you can't do with the stock Bose cable.Construction The cord is very flat and thin - very different from the thick and rugged stock cable - thus, this one feels cheaper.You know that thing where you can turn a cable plug about 45 degrees and the sound gets scratchy and half of it cuts out in one ear, and you can turn it another 45 or so degrees and the sound comes back as it should? Do you know this phenomenon? Well, mine does that. Instead we have to purchase off market products, that by the way work great. I have a Galaxy s3 and it does not fast forward or reverse the song, but it does raise and lower the volume. I will take it.It also will pause the song to answer a call.
