Just mix the two ingredients (with the amounts helpfully marked as lines on the side of the bottle) and shake until the sugar dissolves.All along I thought that the heat was required to get the water to absorb the right amount of sugar, but apparently it just speeds the process along. But what good is speeding the process along if you then have to spend time keeping an eye on a hot stove, waiting for it to cool, and then washing the pot afterwards?The kit arrives in an attractive, no-nonsense foam padded box and includes the bottle, the pour spout, bottle cap, funnel, and a dry-erase marker for any notes you want to make on the bottle (like when you made the syrup!).True to their promises, the spout never gets crusty and the bottle is a much classier presentation of simple syrup than a generic squeeze bottle. I hate having to boil water and add sugar, the mess on my stove top is just not worth it. So I bought this kit recently and I couldn't be happier with it. Just add sugar to the line on the bottle, then add water to the next line, and shake. Write the date on the front with the included marker, and store in your fridge for up to a few months before starting over. The sugar will not completely dissolve for a few days, but that's not really a big deal.Besides the easy-to-use fill lines on bottle, the key to this thing is the bottle stopper with removable cap. Take the black plastic cap off, and the easy pour spout will make sure your simple syrup doesn't make a mess as you add it to your drink.
