Not bad for the price.
Out of the box these performed much better than I thought that they would. Bear in mind that these are not Bessey, Facom or Milwaukee either as I bought when a full time engineer. These will, as they were, today, only used on thin mild steel, copper or aluminium. For steel the most I would go to is 1.2mm (18swg) avoiding stainless completely. Having said that, they feel pretty sturdy and the action is nice and positive with an action not dissimilar to far more expensive tools. They fit nicely to the hand and the left hand, right hand and straight cut versions give a neat cut which allows the easy following of curved lines too. These are a budget set, but they feel extremely well made with a good positive grip that gives the user the feel of a far more expensive tool. If you donโt overtax them, theyโll work fine for a hobbyist, just treat them with respect and I suspect theyโll give good service.

Durable Tin Snips
This 3-piece tin snip set from Amazon Basics is a versatile and reliable addition to any toolkit, perfect for cutting sheet metal, stainless steel, and even thick plastic that standard scissors wouldn't manage. The straight-cut snips work effectively with materials up to 18-gauge mild steel (1.2 mm thick) and handle thinner stainless steel fairly well, provided itโs not overly thick. The left- and right-cut snips are better suited for thinner materials like 20-22 gauge mild steel (0.8 to 0.6 mm thick). While they might not be the best choice for any heavy-duty metalwork, theyโre ideal for light projects requiring precision and control. Beyond metal, Iโve found these snips surprisingly great for cutting through thicker plastics. The serrated blades maintain a firm grip on materials, ensuring clean cuts, and the sharpness is decent enough for consistent performance. The rubberized handles are comfortable to grip and make cutting easier on the hands and the latch lock is a thoughtful addition for safe storage. Overall, these snips deliver great value for a wide range of cutting needs. Whether youโre working with metals or thick plastics, this set offers durability and functionality at a reasonable price.

Comfortable
They cut .5 sheet steel perfectly. Comfortable in the hand and seem to be good quality.

Good value, but...
These were great on thin sheet metal, but would not cut on the slightly thicker sheet material, so had to send them back and purchased another brand.

Brilliant.
Can't go wrong for just over a tenner, do the job well.

Ok for thin sections only
Looks well made and sturdy. Easily cuts thin aluminium sheeting and uPVC pipework. However, thereโs no way that these snips will cut 22 gauge stainless steel as claimed by the description. The kink shown in the photo resulted from an attempt to cut a stainless steel strip of half that thickness. It just bent and became sandwiched between the blades

Sharp, Strong, and a Great Value
The Amazon Basics aviation snip set is surprisingly solid for the price. Each pair (straight, left, and right cut) feels sturdy, cuts sheet metal cleanly, and the grips are comfortable for extended use. Iโve already used them on ductwork and aluminum trim with no problem. A great budget-friendly set that performs like more expensive brands.

Well-constructed, inexpensive: easy cuts of vinyl, tin, aluminum sheet metals
Had doubts this tool would perform up to those featured at Home Depot, Lowes, ACE, etc. But it arrived looking well-constructed, robust. Our first test was during install of our Google Nest doorbell, button of which had to be placed over vinyl siding. We had to surgically cut vinyl to clear top of doorbell cam/button. We were impressed by how this tool got its snout into the tight space and easily snipped vinyl. The compound leverage of the tool made cutting so easy-- right up to the tip of the snips! That's an important feature: it means that the tool will cut aluminum, sheet steel and other media without stress.

Clean cuts
For the price, these are better than my 'wiss" snips, the locking nuts work to keep the blades tight and the cuts look nice and clean.
