Absolutely gripping Gilded Age story. - I simply forgot how amazing the Age of Innocence is. Reading now as more of an adult than I was when i read it in college, every line felt important. The story of Newland and May and Ellen, against the backdrop of New York society during the days of the 400, completely brings you into another world. I brought it on a once-in-a-lifetime type vacation, and simply couldn't wait to get back to reading it during any moments of downtime. Highly recommended. Very small, perfect for travel and gifting. I fell head over heels for the New York in the 1870s and was so invested in Ellen and Newland’s affair. The depiction of society was well done and this was such a good read even if the first couple chapters are a little slow.
