I was looking for a way to drag my shutter during time-lapse projects in the daylight, and also as a means to smooth waves during the day. I tried it out recently in Cancun, and had mixed results, through no fault of the filter itself. For time-lapse projects, it works well, even in bright sunlight. I can get my shutter down to 0.6 sec at f/22 and iso 100. This is sufficient to blur action, even in bright sunlight. However, I was unable to get the smoothing effect I wanted on the surf shortly after sunrise. I could get the shutter down to about .25 secs. It did blur, but not enough to smooth.The nice thing about the Cokin BP400A77 P Series 77mm Filter Holder is the ability to stack 3 filters in the holder. I would like to order at least 2 more of these ND filters and stack them. This will give much more control with the shutter speed. I did observe a bit of color shift to magenta in SOME images. I may have had my polarizing filter on too, which may have caused this. The filter can pick up lint and dust easily, so have a microfiber cloth available to keep it clean. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars It works as advertised. *by B***N on Reviewed in the United States on July 16, 2014* I took a test shot of a crape myrtle into the sun and posted it to show that it doesn't seem to change the colors, only darken them. I wish I had bought a larger size, even though I have all the accessories for the Cokin P series filters. I often carry just the filters rather than the filters, holders and step-up rings and simply hold the filter in front of the lens. This usually works fine with the graduated neutral density filters, since they are rectangular. This one is square so it's a little difficult keeping your fingers out of the shot, especially if using a wide-angle lens and a lens hood. ### ⭐⭐⭐ 3.0 out of 5 stars small price tag for a reason *by A***Y on Reviewed in the United States on December 16, 2014* The filter does it job but take extra care with it...its plastic... cheap plastic at that. But you get what you pay for...ND filters can be really expensive and those expensive ones are glass and therefore much more durable. But still need care when used so if you take the time to care properly for your filters these Cokin cheap plastic ones will work just fine...and are so cheap when it does become too scratched/damaged to use and you have to buy another you are still less $$ invested than if you bought a expensive but much better quality (durable) Lee filter... for example.
