What happens when you tighten the bolts is it often creates very small scratches, and those scratches break through the powder coated layer exposing the metal below. Once exposed, rust can start forming and spread from there, so if you just give it a quick spray over the bolts and any other scratches, it can make it last significantly longer. We recommend this for any kind of iron decoration, not just this arch.
