Review: When I first installed the game, I had problems ... - When I first installed the game, I had problems getting it activated because of issues with the update. I was able to get that solved, and was able to activate. Now the problem I have is that the game keeps closing down right in the middle of a mission, and I have to restart, and start the mission from the beginning. When it does close down, I get a message which basically says that something has caused the program to close, and that Windows will notify me when a solution is found. I'm not sure where the fault lies, so I probably shouldn't blame the game and give it a low rating. But, it does make the game very difficult to play.
Review: DFX2 Installation & Gameplay - Hey guys, if you're having problems installing DFX2, then please read on. The Issues: I tried to install my new/sealed copy of Delta Force Xtreme 2 (from the disc) onto my Win7 gaming PC, but I kept getting a notification from Novalogic advising me that the version I have cannot be installed? Also, all that was only highlighted (I could click on) were the Activation, Update, and Exit links. Although I had my registration code 'at the ready', I was never prompted to input that information, because I hadn't been able to reach that particular point yet. Also, when I clicked on the Update link, I was unable to do so? So, I scoured the internet and read several responses from others to those whom had experienced the same exact problem. Evidently, I was not the only one whom had encountered these issues and none of the responses I had read (over at Novaworld Community / NW2) or at any of the other gamer sites were of any help. Although the majority of those responses just stated that Novalogic had always had a problem with their Updates, this really didn't address the problem, that is, until I read something r/e an available 'new replacement Update file', as well as a 'replacement .exe file' (both available at Novalogic) which should hopefully 'fix' the issues which I had been encountering. Well, while attempting to run the DFX2 'replacement Update file', I continued to receive a message advising me that Windows had stopped the Update and nothing else was listed or occurred? The 'Fix': Although it took about an hour to download the new DFX2.exe from Novalogic, the following is what actually 'fixed' the issues for me... Once download, open the .exe file, and select Repair. This rectified the problem with me getting beyond the Activation section; however, Novalogic would not accept my Novalogic Community login information; i.e., name or password. Although I clicked on the link (twice) for Novalogic to e-mail me with that requested information (just in case something had changed), I never actually received those e-mails? I was advised, however, that my Novaworld Community ID and my contact e-mail addresses were already taken and unavailable. So, I was forced to sign-up all over again...which eventually worked. Since I never received the confirmation e-mail(s), I just logged on to Novaworld Community (with my newly created account info) and added my game's registration code there. I then returned to the game's login screen, entered my new account information, and I was then finally able to access both the Singleplayer and Multiplayer links. I then clicked on Singleplayer and played my first DFX2 game. Gameplay Notes: I must admit that DFX2 gameplay is slightly different than what I had become accustomed to in all of the other prior Delta Force/JointOps games and mods. (Note: Selecting a satchel charge in the AW2 mod does require the use of a different key.) Though the quality of the graphics have remained the same, there is some new terrain to explore and the environmental sounds/sound effects have been improved - are more realistic. If a player is not too badly injured, then one will gradually 'self-heal' without any interaction from the JO bots. I really liked this. In addition, there are some 'healing stations' (first aid crates) strategically placed throughout the gameplay area. Use them wisely, however, because they do not respawn once they've been accessed. Although I encountered some 'power-up'/reload crates along the way, I never could actually locate an armory (aside from only once throughout the ten single-player campaign missions where I encountered and used an armory truck to reload)? At one point, after having exhausted the available 'reload' crates (which also do not respawn whenever they've been used), the only way that I was able to reload my satchel charges was to invoke the dreaded 'CTRL + R' (commit suicide)...just so that I could destroy two remaining supply trucks...bah! __________________________________________________________________________ Note: As gameplay ensued, I later learned to just 'go in search of' the additional required ammo (satchel charges and AT-4s) required to destroy the target objective(s). Additional ammo are in crates which have been placed throughout the 'battlefield' (gameplay area) so-to-speak. __________________________________________________________________________ The computer keyboard's number key functions here are a bit different whenever one needs to access one's current weapons 'loadout'; i.e., instead of selecting the usual #7 to access an AT-4, RPG-7, claymore, satchel charge, etc., it'll be key #5 in DFX2. As far as I'm concerned Novalogic should've left the weapon selection keys alone...especially considering the fact that most dedicated longtime Delta Force/JointOps gamers had long become accustomed to the keyboard functions since 'Day One' and that DFX2 was the last of the series...as most have come to realize by now that there will be no 'Angel Falls'! I'm sure that it'll take me a little while before I really 'get the hang of it'...not! Needless to say, that throughout all ten single-player Missions, I continually found myself 'fumbling around' whenever needing to quickly switch to an AT-4/RPG-7/satchel charges/'frag' and 'flashbang' grenades/etc. Instead of selecting #5 for a 'frag' grenade and #4 for a 'flashbang' grenade, one will just have to scroll through the #4 key until the desired grenade has been reached; i.e., 'frag', 'flashbang', and smoke. BTW, I never encountered a thermite grenade in DFX2. Instead of PSPs to achieve/capture, there are checkpoints which one must reach in order for the game to be saved at a particular point. Although I liked this feature much better than having to 'camp' PSPs and LFPs, it does force players to always remain on course; i.e., continually following the green directional indicator arrow. Fortunately, the green directional indicator arrow used here always works...unlike those used in several of the COOP maps I'd played throughout the years. I also noticed that the sniper rifles (Dragunov, M82, and M24) were not as accurate as they are in the other games/mods, yet the accuracy of other weapons was more accurate? Since I usually play as a Sniper, this I didn't like...bah! Also, the sniper rifles utilize the sound effect of the Stinger and Javelin of the other games/mods. Instead of the 'loud bang' of a .50 BMG shot which I had become accustomed to, I now hear the 'woosh' of a Stinger/Javelin...rather odd. There are only two single-player Campaigns - 'Monsoon Alley' and 'Sand Trap' and both only have five single-player Missions each. So far, of all of the included DFX2 missions, all were somewhat 'lame' with the best maps being 'Monsoon Alley - Barricade' and 'Sand Trap - Blast Furnace'. Whenever one completes a mission and arrives at the screen which display one's gameplay score, the music heard sounds just like the music which is used in the L4D (Left for Dead) games whenever a map has been completed? In DFX2, the JO bots actually do something and did a very good job handling the enemy alongside me. Also, except for only one instance, the JO bots did not become stuck (against walls, within boulders, etc.) and moved/regrouped to where they were designed/programmed to go. Unlike in the other games/mods, the silenced MP5 and the M16 sound realistic and are actually accurate/lethal in DFX2. In Summation: It only took me a few hours (with some intermittent breaks) to conclude both Campaigns - complete all ten single-player Missions successfully. Although I'd much prefer to play the available custom DFX1/DFX2 COOP maps via the AW2 mod (I much prefer the AW2 mod's available weapons selection and its gameplay style), I will, however, actually play them via DFX2...now that I have this game finally loaded onto my gaming system. For those of you wanting additional maps, just do an internet search for DFX/DFX2 custom maps (COOP and non-COOP), as there are several still available 'free of charge'. Just download and then extract them to your Novalogic/DFX2 program folder. Those maps should then appear within your game's Instant Action drop-down list. Have fun and good luck. I now only play the singleplayer campaigns/missions and I no longer frequent what's left of the remaining multiplayer servers. Like the other legitimate players whom had left long ago, I too have become fed-up with the multitudes of hackers and cheats which now seem to dominate the majority of the remaining public servers. Fortunately, there are still a few legitimate private servers available for those whom enjoy multiplayer action. BTW, to this day, I am yet to receive any sort of e-mail response back from Novalogic. It's only obvious that their Support is now non-existent; thus, confirming what others had been saying for quite some time now...sheesh!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Review
*by へ***ぴ on June 23, 2013*
