The cable works great however your microphone quality will vary depending on the quality of the microphone in your headphones.Alternatively this has also been quite useful for excluding the microphone from my phones headphone jack. The mic on my travel earbuds is not nearly as good as the one built into my phone. Plugging my headphones into this and just using the green headphone piece has allowed me to use my earbuds without having to use the lower quality mic built into them.I would say the only down side I've experienced, which most of you will never need to worry about, is that if I plug the headphone jack into my mixer and the microphone jack into my laptop I get a light electronic static sound coming from the power on my computer. This can be fixed with either a better power cable, a different grounded outlet, OR a ground loop isolator plugged into the green audio end of this cable. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Not working? I discovered that this is because the "Line In" port of my computer is not actively powered, making it unsuitable for passive mics. Therefore, if your mic is silent, read the specs of your machine to determine whether it has a powered microphone port. Some PCs have both a "Mic" and a "Line In" port, but ports labeled "Line In" are often unpowered. In any case, the silence is almost always not the cable's fault.The solution for machines without powered audio jacks is simply to find a sound card that has one. The simplest and most compatible option is a USB Audio adapter such as the  Logitech USB To 3.5mm Jack Audio Adapter . For audio buffs, the investment in a headphone amp might be more worthwhile, such the excellent  FiiO E10 USB DAC Headphone Amplifier  or the affordable  ASUS Xonar U3 Sound Cards (XONAR_U3/UAD/B/A) . The computer headset was too bulky, but I needed it for Google voice and VoIP to be connected. I also carried my blackberry headset as well. One day, it occurred to me that there might be an adapter, and after checking out few things, I decided to try this one since $1 can't do too much damage. At first, I was having trouble using this on my Windows 7 laptop, but I did not have any issue with Windows XP desktop. After a research, it was related to a driver issue on my laptop and got it working on my laptop.Pro's: Great price, can work with any wired-headset that came with any smart-phone.Con's: Audio quality. without any audio feedback playing, there is little static.All in all, it works well, and I didn't have to carry a bulky headset. Although I gave four stars, I would say it would be more like 3.5 stars.
