... this for a friend and he says it's working great. Sometimes
Bought and installed this for a friend and he says it's working great. Sometimes, after not switching to the laptop for a while or after a reboot, the mouse will stop working on the PC but all he has to do is switch to the laptop and then back again and it'll start working.

Great Product.
Great product - works well with my setup of multiple workstations; It is a bit of a downer that the switch only supports one monitor instead of all three of mine per workstation, but then I find myself asking, do you want eggs in your beer? Sound moves between two workstations flawlessly as well as control of the mouse and keyboard. I have not tried attaching a usb hub to this device though I imagine it could be possible... (if I were crazy)

A great solution for HDMI switching
Works like a charm. I am even able to use a Logitech wireless KBD and Mouse. Only problem I have is that it seems to go blank at random periods for a few seconds. This is not the end of the world, but very annoying for me. I am sure this would be a deal breaker for some.

I use this for my gaming PC and consoles via the XIM4.
I was looking for something to allow me to have less clutter on my desk for gaming. I wanted a single mouse and keyboard for both my pc and consoles when I game. I did not want to have to unplug and replug my mouse and keyboard when switching between the two. I did a week of research trying to find the perfect KVM switch for a price that I can justify (I really didn't want to spend $300+). One issue I read about was that with the cheaper ones, they were not compatible with gaming mice and keyboards, that if you use them you would lose functionality or they just won't work. With this KVM I was able to use my Corsair Vengeance K70 keyboard and M65 mouse just fine after some tweaking. When I first plugged everything in, both mouse and keyboard did not work. What I had to do was plug my mouse and keyboard directly into my computer. Make sure the KVM was completely unplugged. While holding the port selector button I plugged in one of the purple USB plugs into my computer to enter firmware update mode (this is indicated by both port LEDs on the KVM blinking in unison). Visit the Aten's website and specifically look up the CS692 and download the latest firmware update. Run the program and update the KVM (if it fails make sure the kvm is still in update mode, if not reenter it). Now unplug the KVM and your mouse and keyboard from the computer. Plug the mouse and keyboard into the KVM and a set of the USB cords coming from the KVM into the computer. Make sure the KVM was selected to the correct port. I had to put my keyboard into BIOS mode. Press [Scroll Lock]>[Scroll Lock]>[m]>[Enter] to get the mouse to register. Press [Scroll Lock]>[Scroll Lock]>[n]>[Enter] to get the keyboard to work in non-bios mode. After that everything has been working great and I really enjoy the ease of my new setup. Now for anyone who wants to use this with the XIM4, it gets kinda finicky. Make sure the black USB is plugged into Port 1, and the purple into Port 2. Have the KVM switched to the XIM4 prior to turning on the console, or switch it over and unplug and replug the XIMs USB to the console to reset it or your mouse will never mount to the XIM. Also with this specific keyboard I had to use it in BIOS mode because the XIM doesn't fully support it, not anything to do with the KVM. I'm not sure how compatible this KVM will be with future gaming mice and keyboards but when I was looking at Aten's site, it appears they are releasing firmware updates once a year to ensure compatibility with newer devices. I will update this review if my KVM starts to malfunction or if I discover something wrong with it. So far this was a great purchase and I couldn't be happier. Did exactly what I wanted. I would highly recommend this KVM for those who need compatibility with gaming peripherals. Please note that I only tested the keyboard and mouse functionality. I didn't bother with the audio, or HDMI because I did not need it for what I was doing.

Works as expected most of the time
I need a KVM so that I can share a monitor/keyboard with a HP HPE-570t (Tower) and a HP laptop (Elitebook 8570w) with a docking station. Initially I thought my Elitebook supports HDMI but I found out otherwise after I have ordered the Aten HDMI KVM. I have to buy a adaptor to convert the existing DVI port to HDMI. Some of the problems I am seeing with this device are: - Some of the time, my monitor will complain it is out of sync when I switch from PC to my laptop. I am not sure if it is related to the adaptor I have to add to convert the DVI into HDMI or it is because my laptop went into hibernation and it is unable to re-sync with the monitor. Anyway, I have disabled the hibernation option on my laptop to test out the theory. - My Microsoft Laser Mouse 5000 sometimes will not respond. I am not sure why. I have to shut down my laptop and restart it. Hibernation to blame? - Window 7 will not recognize the type of mouse from the "Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center" via the KVM. I have lost the ability to configure the mouse using Microsoft's software. One of the reason I choose this product is that I can hook up a USB hub to the "extra" USB port and it does work perfectly.

this switch did not play nice with the Windows 7 computer
I bought this for my wife for her to switch between a Windows 7 machine and a Mac Mini, as I tried to help her transition to a Mac. She decided it was too much to switch over to the Mac, so I took it and I have it hooked up between my Mac Mini and her old Mac Mini which I use as a Mac Server. For some reason, this switch did not play nice with the Windows 7 computer. For some reason, the Windows would unmount/remount whatever was on the USB port (her wireless keyboard and mouse was using the USB. This would happen between 1 and 5 times during the day. This was frustrating to her. I have had no problems with the Mac Mini's being hooked up. The cables are all nice and long, the switching between computers is nice and easy and it is nice to be able to switch between the two computers.

The KVM for Gaming Keyboards and Mouse's!
Awesome packing and shipping as usual! I used this with the Hoo Too USB 3.0 hub. When you hook the hub into the mouse port on the kvm you can share the connected USB devices with the other computers on the same kvm switch. I had a problem with the Iogear two port KVM with hdmi and sound. That switch did not seem to support the Microsoft Sidewinder Gaming Keyboard (X4) and mouse (Sidewinder with led dpi display) which is a deal breaker. This switch did and the Hook Too hub allowed my Logitech G930 wireless headset to work on both of my gaming computers. As Alfred E. Newman would say "Super Sweet"

This KVM is exactly what I was looking for. I use a work laptop at home so I need to share mouse and keyboard, but my music collection is on the desktop so I need audio to come from that even when I'm using the laptop. The Aten can selectively switch video, audio and USB and switching is via hotkey so it's very convenient. I have Windows 7 on both machines, and once the drivers downloaded everything worked perfectly. Excellent piece of kit.

...exactly what it says what it is. Doesn't make tea. Doesn't make toast. Does allow a single keyboard, HDMI video, and a mouse to be split. So if you need an HDMI KVM do suggest you get this. If you need tea, suggest a kettle, if you need toast, suggest a toaster.
