You wrap it around yourself and can immediately feel your heat reflecting back at you. Just to be clear, this does not replace a sleeping bag in even moderately cold weather. I had to use it in a pinch out in the New Mexico desert on a night that dipped down to 19 degrees, I would not want to do that again. But no big surprise because that’s not what it’s designed for. During the spring, summer and early fall I love going out for a couple of days at a time on my bike, this blanket, a lightweight hammock (with bug net) and a tarp is my favorite ultralight fair weather gear. It’s not water proof, but water does bead up on the outer side and it dries super fast. It’s pretty durable. Packs up small enough that it spends all winter in my backpack. I’ve lost count of how many times it’s come in handy when a train or bus is running late. It also makes a great sleeping bag liner.
