I just fill up a Brita filter all the way and fill it up at night. I let it run continuously without turning it off for a week at a time without any issues. The only inconvenience is that even on the lowest setting it can barely last a full 24 hours, so it feels like I'm always filling it up. As long as it's part of your routine it's no big deal. This thing is actually excellent for essential oils. Just put a few drops in and it instantly fills the room with the smell. The scent disappears relatively quickly, but its comparable to other diffusers. I let it sit with a little water for a couple weeks without using it and it did accumulate nasty pink mold like you should expect. I took it to the sink, scrubbed it with a sponge and soap, and that stuff comes right off. I ran a vinegar solution through it to make sure the insides were more or less sanitary, and then it was right back to normal and stays clean. You should expect some maintenance.
