The base has a gasket to seal to the sink didn't need to use any silicone. Installation was very easy. All our cooking pots fit under it , even buckets. This faucet replaced a Delta 400 series that I installed only5 weeks ago. The Delta faucet became had to operate and wouldn't shut off properly. We even bought the Delta from a local plumbing supply. The Delta faucet also didn't have a high enough arc for my wife's big cooking pots. Should have bought this Moen faucet 1st.. The original faucet before the first replacement was a Moen.
