Specimens are attached by simply laying them on the Weighing Platform of the Scale (for the "Weight in Air"), and on the Underwater Weighing Pan (for the "Weight in Water"). In both cases, the specimens are "attached" only by the force of gravity.Yes, you can weigh multiple beds at once. Your SG measurement would be valid, however, only if all of the beads in the weighing sample are of the same species.

Does this come with a chart for the different S.G. of karated gold?

No, it comes with a table of 300 Minerals and Gem Minerals, sorted by Specific Gravity, along with other properties of minerals. You should be able to find a SG of Karated Gold chart online.

What is the weight of the kit (my scale goes up to 314 g) ? thank you

The tared weight of that portion of the kit that actually sits on top of the scale's weighing platform is 26 grams.

Could you use a 500 ml beaker with a 5 in diameter instead of the 100 ml one in the picture?

The short answer is Yes, but since the Beaker Holder in our SG Kit is sized for the smaller 100mL beaker, you would have to improvise your own 500mL Beaker support. Beyond that, the Tri-Wire support for the Underwater Weighing Pan, which sits on the platform of the Electronic Scale, surrounds the Beaker Holder, without touching, and is sized for our 100mL Beaker Holder, so if you were to still use our Tri-Wire support, your improvised Beaker Holder would have to fit inside that. With all that in mind, you might be better off using the Ohaus Cent-O-Gram 311 or Dial-O-Gram 310 Mechanical Beam Balance, in combination with our Specific Gravity Kit for that Ohaus Balance, but substituting your larger 500 mL Beaker.

Well built

Easy to use even for beginners. Got an extra 3 year warranty for this item. Gives accurate measurements. When combined with a loupe, spectrascope, dichroscope and refractometer you can identify any gemstone. I also have a UV light and a chealsea filter for Emerald and others. I also use the presidium gem tester II. I bought a special scale to go with it.

Very poor quality item, basket holds fluid so your readings will not remain consistent. Very difficult to use. Actually I will no be using it. Good concept very poorly executed.
