A: Yes it will be suitable if you use the lead included to attach to the battery but not suitable to charge through the power socket

A: I believe rechargeble lithium batteries can be charge using the optimate charger

**Q: Hi! does this come with a red waterproof cap on the 'permanent' lead?**
A: If you mean the lead that stays attached to your battery on the bike then yes, it does come with a waterproof cap.
But it's not red, it's a very robust black rubber cap which stays attached to the permanent lead.

**Q: What type of adaptor do i need for this as live in uk**
A: I've had 2 of these optimates in the last 20 years the ones I ordered had the uk plugs on .I'd do another search if I was you .

I bought this for charging my Scooter battery. I opted for this unit over some more popular cheaper alternatives, primarily after seeing people mention that its cable connectors are of a higher quality. In particular I wanted to have a hard wired external plug in socket, to facilitate easy connections to the battery, without having to remove side panels. The supplied leads were perfect for this and now I can easily keep my scooter battery in top condition over winter when the bike will get little use. Overall I am delighted with this purchase.
