The main function of the small intestine is ABSORPTION of nutrients and minerals from food and supplements. Most supplements do not cause burping and have some sort of bad aftertaste so they can generally start breaking down in the stomach and the small intestines will absorb the nutrients thereafter. However, Fish Oil does cause a fishy aftertaste and burping when an ordinary soft gel dissolves in the stomach so being able to bypass the stomach and dissolve ONLY in the small intestines helps alleviate this common problem.
