Had a stray cat that had been coming around for years and finally decided to check and see if he was chipped. I didn’t want to try to trap him to take him somewhere and so bought this. It worked great! I will say that whatever cat is scanned does need to be fairly comfortable with you. It does scan quickly but I can imagine it would be harder with a cat that is more skittish. This stray has been coming around for a few years so we’ve slowly built trust with him. Honestly, great price even if I only use it once 😅 I also scanned my indoor cats just to double check and it worked for them too. I was able to find out that the outdoor stray had been adopted at one point but must have been abandoned as the local animal control said he was a TNR. Gonna keep this for the future in case any other kitties come around ❤️

Register MICROCHIPS for OWNERSHIP
Actually works very well gave me the microchip numbers on pets I didn’t know even had a chip would recommend for anyone that lives in an area where dogs are dumped on a daily basis or get away from their owners and property in rural Florida is my Location Sad part is many owners DO NOT REGISTER THEIR PETS!!! they get them chipped and never register them on freechipregistry ONLINE!!!

Easy chip scanner! (used for strays & tested on our pets)
Sadly a lot of stray cats end up at our door and I was looking for something to scan them quickly instead of trying to catch / trap / transport them to a local vet for microchip checks each time. This is a small device (smaller than an iPhone in the photo for reference) and came fully charged / ready to go. It does include a cable. Basically you press the center blue button & it is on / ready to scan. Next you wave it around slowly behind the pets head, near the shoulder blades and in that general area until the reader either pops up a chip number or reads "no tag". It does make noise (beeps) when turning on and then again when a chip is or is not found. The noise may scare some animals. I recommend getting the animals used to the sound & being touched first if at all possible as you do need to get close. You do not need to use the upload data feature or create an account to use this, but be prepared to have just a very short while to take a photo of the number that pops up (I doubt you'd have time to write it down). I did test this on our cats to ensure it was working (they all have the 15 digit microchip number, so I cannot confirm if it works or not for other chip types as the most recent stray came up "no chip" after multiple tests). The scanner accurately read our pets' microchip numbers quickly. It is light weight, and seemingly good quality. Once you have the chip number you can do a reverse lookup to find which microchip company issued that number (e.g. via the website aaha.org microchip registry lookup), then contact that specific microchip company (e.g. 24Petwach, HomeAgain, etc..) to see if it is registered to an owner & try to contact the owner. Other than the noise and the short amount of time you have to view the chip number, this is a great handy gadget and is a very good price.

Quick and easy
Quick and easy to use. Battery life works well though, I’ll have to check back in a couple of months to see if it holds. It’s light weight and easy to keep in the pet drawer. Good value and keeps me from having to run to the vet every week with strays. Sturdy plastic that will hold up over the years.

Works and worth the money.
Was able to scan out dog and got able to find her microchip number (the number is blacked out in the picture). It did not work with our cats, but they were chipped over 10 years ago and the product description did indicate that it doesn't work with all chips. I was able to lookup up our dog's microchip number on Aaha.org and found the microchip company it was last registered to so that we could update our dog's info. Glad I got it.

SCAN FROM HEAD TO TAIL B4 GIVING UP
Worked well. At first I was worried. I was scanning all around my boy's neck, but it kept saying, "NO TAG". I knew he was chipped, so I began scanning from head to tail. Took about 5 minutes to locate the chip behind his right shoulder. Reads quickly when you are right above chip. I might have given up if I wasn't already positive that he had a chip. I do wish the range or sensitivity was better, but for the price, I got my money's worth.

Fast reading!
I got this in case I ever come across a stray; I will scan them. I love that it scans really fast, and I already tried it on my own microchipped pets; the numbers show up accurately. I love that it also fits in my pocket, so it's super easy to carry around. Keep in mind, I used this on an older pet with a very old microchip brand from AVID. This new scanner does not scan older chips but works wonders with the newer ones. The way I found out is how my hospital has their own microchip universal scanner and they're huge. The big scanner was able to read the AVID microchips but when I tried it with mine, it wouldn't scan it. It's great overall but keep in mind that it may not scan older brand microchips.
