**Q: Are these nylon strings? Why does it say gut?**
A: Historically, the strings were made from animal gut.http://en DOT wikipedia DOT org/wiki/Classical_guitar_stringsSee the Wikipedia entry on classical guitar strings.So that's the "classic" description.The "GUT" strings have been made from nylon for a long time.

**Q: Why are these clear and not black as advertised? I specifically wanted black trebles but received clear instead.**
A: This is just Augustine's nomenclature and refers to low tension string. Unfortunately it has nothing to do with the color of the strings. If you want black colored strings, then try Ernie Ball black classical guitar strings.

**Q: Do the base string sound louder than the nylon strings? I bought a set and the base strings are significantly louder. Was this a bad set I got?**
A: The bass strings on a classical should be real boomers.  So yes.

**Q: Does it have a ball end**
A: These are Nylon Classical Guitar Strings and as such, no they do not have a ball end. Strings that do will say so right on the package.

I've tried many other strings over the 40 yrs I've been playing but always go back to the Augustine Blues . The trebles are medium tension and basses are high tension. Reds are medium tension trebles and medium tension basses. Also very excellent strings . Both are very warm and easy to play . I prefer the blue because of the higher tension basses but you can't go wrong with either set . They are NOT gut strings . Augustine was the first company to manufacture a nylon string .
