After playing with a heavier plywood paddle, this paddle is a big step up. Much more "feel" and power (pop). Easier to control shots. The paddle is cut from a composite panel with aluminum faces and internal plastic corrugations which act compositely to give the paddle face stiffness and strength. The aluminum facing is thin, probably to keep it reasonably light. When the ball is struck, the panel with the internal plastic corrugations and aluminum faces acts like a drum and makes a rather loud popping sound, which I like, but was remarked upon by other players. I'm not sure why, but the face of the paddle has accumulated quite a few very small dents or dimples; probably from hitting the ball hard. I'm pleased with the way the paddle plays. It looks like it will be both durable and high performance. It appears to be very well made. The grip is large, but that's good for me. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Nice inexpensive paddle, but not quite as good as the higher quality/priced ones *by W***D on Reviewed in the United States on December 23, 2016* Just started playing pickleball a couple of months ago. Bought this to see what a less expensive paddle would be like. Certainly better than wood. The action is good, very lively response, as well as the grip. It's heavier than the other paddles, which is not an issue for me, but others might want the lighter weight. It is about a half inch shorter than those other paddles as well. The reason I'll switch to another paddle is the edge guard, which is round rubber to protect the paddle (good for outdoor courts) but also causes the ball to go every which way if you try to hit it near the edge or put spin on the ball with a chop. If I were more accurate, it wouldn't be a problem, but I'm not, yet. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Nice, sturdy paddle. Seems to be well made. *by T***L on Reviewed in the United States on November 19, 2014* A friend has a graphite paddle that is breaking down in the center. Whatever the core of that paddle is made of, it is breaking down and the center of the paddle is getting "mushy". This aluminum composite paddle is supposed to resist any breakdown, and also be resistant to moisture etc.It does have a distince pop when you hit the ball, but neither I nor any opponents have found the sound to be annoying.The grip is somewhat large in diameter, but I have larger hands so it works ok for me. Someone with smaller hands may not like the grip as well.
