Beautiful Volume of Work
First off this Volume is Gigantic...it's as thick as a large Phonebook (For those of you who remember what that is) It's full of short 4-8 page Judge Dredd Stories so it's Very Action Packed throughout, it's not one BIG Volume of One story Arc that just goes on and on...Even though if they're quality like "Watchmen" or "V for Vendetta" that works too...The fact it's all in Black and White didn't bother me one bit, the art work is good throughout When Brian Bolland is at the helm which is quite a few times throughout the volume the Art is Amazing, (I'm a huge fan of Bolland ever since Batman "The Killing Joke"...Over all unlike with some big volume collections (Savage Sword of Conan) it all makes sense and DOES make sense Chronologically which is Great because SSOC being all over the place made it confusing to read...I'm about to move on to Volume 2, and for as big of books as these are, I'm not sick of it nor do I want to take a break from it before starting #2, and I think that in itself shows the entertainment value of this collection!

What a intro into the world Of Dredd
I always desired to get into the comics but being Judge Dredd has been around since 1977 and myslef being born in 1980 I had no idea where to begin. This is why I love the case files because they start from his first appeseence in 2000 AD's weekly comic, I was able to start from the beginning from his early adventures and since to date there are 31 which will surely get you up to date. I brought this book on Kindle and had a hard time putting it down, was really a great read, I plan on buying 1 a month, highly recomended.

Great story, but a little awkward to read.
Judge Dredd is a classic comic series, and I'm glad to find them available for Kindle. The only complaint I have, which was the only thing that prevented a full 5-star rating is the awkwardness in reading it. the side-to-side flip from one frame to the next is convenient once you figure it out, but it's still a bit small on the iPhone, which is especially disappointing considering that it doesn't fully utilize the screen space it has available to it, or the iPhone's natural zoom capability. However, while this setback prevents this ebook from full 5-star glory, it is still plenty workable and functional on the iPhone's small screen, plus the story [so far] is great. Would definitely recommend to the Dredd fan, or someone new to the series who is interested in checking it out.

The legend begins...
The artwork is a bit hit and miss, but that's to be expected with the length and breath of the life of 2000AD. I have to admit that Bolland's work stood out from the others and were the highlight of the book. It's the nostalgic stories that I was fascinated to read again and I wasn't disappointed. The book itself is of good production quality though there are some panels where there's an overuse of black did make the artwork a bit of a mess. Overall a great collection of stories from the dawn of Dredd and a good introduction on how the legend evolved.

This is not the Dredd you want it to be, but don't be dissuaded...
This is, quite honestly, not the Dredd you want it to be. Most of the works collected in this omnibus show a starting point for Dredd, that eventually evolves into the Dredd you know and love. You see flashes of him in there, but for the most part he is shown as a satirical figure more equatable to a grim Dudely Do-Right than anything else. So why the high rating, right? The great joy of reading this earliest collection is you get to see the evolution of the character, as well as the origins of a good many characters that make appearances later and without a proper introduction you simply do no get the full flavor of Dredd.

A perfect place to start
When I wanted to get into judge dredd I went to the internet and the major opinion seemed to be go with volume 4 or 5 the begining stuff is kinda boring I think this is a completely untrue analysis I have no former knowledge of Dredd other than the film and I loved this book granted sometimes dredd seems a bit cheesy but thats one of the only downsides besides inconsistant art which isnt a big deal theres a few issues with the book yes but these shine even when stacked with more recent books Dredd does everything from fight a robot king kong to a modern day frankenstein and with the story length being on average 3-5 pages its easy to pick up and read a few whenever I dont know how good the other ones get but this is a great starting point

Hooway for Judge Dwedd!!!
Okay so I have his faithful robo-servant Walter on the brain. This is where it begins. The showdown with his clone brother Rico, the Mega-City 5000, tales on the moon, and more. There's even a special surprise prog at the end of this book. Yes it's from 1977, and Drokk it, it shows, but you get to see the origins of the Judge. Now the art is dated and some things in the setting have changed, but it's good old fashioned Judge Dredd and is something no fan or anyone interested in the future's top lawman, should be without.

so when i received case file's 01 it was amazing to see this character come to life
I've been a fan of Judge Dredd for some time now, so when i received case file's 01 it was amazing to see this character come to life. The art in this volume reminds me of the comics in the newspaper. Great short stories add lore to the already exciting universe that is Dredd. Great read for any judge fans.
