Fantastic tool for artists
Have had the pleasure of using this pen for quite a while now and I'm consistently impressed by its performance. Its simply a fantastic tool for artists a calligraphers alike. Design -------- The pen is sleek and minimalistic, the black barrel gives a sense of professionalism. Build quality is excellent and feels sturdy Ink flow -------- I think what sets this pen apart from others is the ink flow and control. The wide brush tip allows for a wider range of line thickness, making it extremely versatile for various artistic styles. I usually do delicate lines, but for people who want to use it for bold expressive strokes, this works just as well. Ink quality -------- The black ink here is a true black color, its water resistant and does not fade over time. Cost ------- One of the best quality of this pen is that its refillable. This not only makes it more environmentally friendly but also extremely cost effective. The ink catridges are easy to replace and lasts a long time In summary, this Pentel pen is a reliable, versatile, and cost effective tool for professionals and hobbyists. It has great ink flow, a versatile brush tip, and rich black ink. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to elevate their next project, no matter if you're a seasoned professional or just someone who loves to doodle.

Incredibly dynamic
Initially got this when I saw a professional artist had one at a gallery opening. This is an incredible pen. It allows for dynamic mark making with easy control and a nice form factor. The size is perfect and I’ve never had any issues with leaks so I’m comfortable throwing it loose in my bag for inking on the go. It’s my favorite travel brush pen because it can handle fine lines, thick brush strokes, and dry textures all in one. The ink also dries incredibly quickly so I can draw and go. Additionally, the ink is super dark and bold. I love this pen so much, it’s so easy to control the ink output and brush head. It produces such a range of possibilities. Absolutely great for a number of a different art styles and techniques.

A brush that doesn't need to be dipped
This brush pen arrived in appropriate packaging. It requires one-time 'activation' by physically twisting the midsection which opens the interior ink reservoir (the instructions for doing so are on the packaging). The quality is excellent: the brush hairs are stiff and the ink flows properly. Also, the ink is jet black and consistent. Overall an outstanding tool and value. May I become an artist worthy of it.

Works excellently.
I think this is an amazing brush pen. The plastic brush tip is both absorbent of the ink and stiff enough to not lose shape after a few uses. If I had one complaint it would be that sometimes getting ink onto the pen can be a bit difficult, the way you refill this pens brush is by squeezing the ink well at the top, however, if you squeeze too hard your pen will be practically dripping with ink which makes it difficult to make finer lines, however if you squeeze to little nothing will change, it becomes a bit difficult to balance the two extremes.

Works well with Copic markers!
Love love love love this brush. The line quality you can achieve with this brush is AMAZING. The ink is nice and black. Controlling the amount of ink through squeezing the body is easy enough to get the hang of. The Pentel Aquash Water Brushes have the same amazing line quality as this one does. Amazing products. If you use Copic markers, this is a great brush to get because the ink doesn't run or smear from the alcohol ink. It's my new favorite inking pen. :)

Surprisingly disappointing. :(
I am a Pentel fan, and love their products so much, that I thought buying this was a no brainer. I think reviews for all colors go here, so I will start off saying I got the gray pen. I got it to do gray toning on my drawings, having seen another artist use it. I liked the idea that you could layer to build up shading. Based on my Pentel Pocketbrush (my favorite possession of all time ever) and their water brush pens, I knew the brush would be fantastic and I really didn't feel I had anything to worry about here. Sadly, the ink is just not working for me. On mixed media paper (which I use for makers, ink, and watercolor frequently) instead of laying down nice ink strokes, the ink beads up on top of the paper, and then dries looking splotchy. Totally did not expect that. I got similar (but not nearly as bad) results on bristol, which would be my second go to paper and the results were similar but not as bad. I also tried watercolor paper, which is not at all what I would want to use, and it was about the same as the bristol. Oddly enough, on cheap printer paper, it works great, like how I would have expected it to. So, I am giving this three stars because the pen itself works great and is the quality that I'd expect from Pentel. However, the non-versatile ink hinders it's usefulness. For me it was a complete waste, since I'm not about the change the paper/processes that I use to accommodate one pen. Again, this was a bit of a shocker. I've seen these pens around for a long time, so I know they're used, and I anticipated no issues whatsoever, but I simply can't do with the ink beading up on the paper. For those who are curious, papers used were: Strathmore 400 series Mixed Media, Strathmore 300 series bristol, cheap watercolor paper (sorry, no brand, just grabbed a scrap), and cheap Hammermill copy paper.

Lovely brush, ink lasts a good long time. Easy, no-mess refills. I bought mine two years ago, used it a good deal and the nib is still crisp. I did go stretches where it lay idle, but the ink didn't dry up and the nib didn't get hard. This is great quality for the price. I'm buying a 2-pack of ink refills right now (also a good price), and thought I'd pop in to give a review. I do wish the ink could be purchased in volume and the pen body manually refilled, but that's the only downside I can even reach for.

Real good elasticity of the tip

These are great. I love that you get two of them. A great alternative for lining watercolour paintings or other artwork. Plus once the ink runs out you can mix in water to make greywashes and paint with them. Super versatile. I also recommend the pocket brush, especially if you prefer darker lines with more consistent ink and want something a bit smaller.
