I tried it directly on the glass and it didn't crack, but it was making me nervous. Amazing for the price and works just as much as it needs to. No fancy features but it is the baseline for monitor arms. Does it's job. Pros: 1: Good horizontal range of motion. As well as good rotation. 2: Easy to install. Took me about 30 minutes to clamp it on and attach the monitor. 3: Solid, no signs of wear after almost 6 months of use. Cons: 1: The monitor arm does not really go high enough for it to be on top of any other monitor (unless your monitor is relatively small), making it harder to have a good 3 or 4+ monitor setup. 2: Your desk can't be right next to the wall for full range of motion. This is not a problem for me, but others might have to cut a hole in their desk for the arm to work nice 3: The clamp works in such a way that, if your desk has a metal bar under it for support, then the clamp can't fully get on there. I remedied this with a block of wood that was the same thickness of the metal bar (as shown in the pictures).
